The sillage on my is about two feet, but it quickly dissipates and I’m left with a very beautiful and delicate rose. As an adult, Joy was swept aside as a memory to make room for the Poisons and their many flankers that have been mass marketed. Having purchased the cellophane wrapped one as a backup I don't feel the need to open it since the opened one hasn't lost its appeal or notes for me. It’s not dirty, it’s not extravagant in a more contemporary way (think 70’s/80’s stunners); it’s simply beautiful.

I suppose this is one reason that, although I'm very emotional about perfume, I'm not terribly romantic about it. Note: The pros and cons listed on this page have been generated using the artificial intelligence system, which analyzes product reviews submitted by our members. The main issue with Joy is its opening, which is a heavy indolic blast of Jasmine that always makes me feel nauseous. I sometimes open it up and wondering about fabulous romantic stories of old perfumers and aldehyde experiment. It was a floral but compared to the powerful bright floral scents of the 80’s it was so subtle, it was almost invisible. Most of these phone discussions were about nothing in particular but only as she grew unable to carry on these conversations did I realize how important those small ways of keeping in touch were.

Someone mentioned the old 70s rose soaps, I can vaguely see the red and pink packaging in my minds eye as a toddler and indeed the smell is similar. It is a sweet floral, rather linear flower bomb of Jasmine, a note I find too girly and don't really like. This is for a powerful woman, beyond trite definitions of confidence, beyond the need to prove herself to anyone. If i have the rate the classics i would say the worst is Air du Temps(very sharp and irritating),then Shalimar(a bit too much civet),than №5(ok but a bit too muscy) and the best and most wearable is Joy. It is sooooo very far apart from my usual style of gourmands or oriental spices that I simply can't understand all the love for it.For example, he made tennis champion, Suzanne Lenglen, his muse, designing long dresses with low necklines on the back when the boyish style was in vogue. It does get a bit warmer on skin, but not a lot, just enough to be like memories of a joyful past - something that makes you feel good, but what you can't (or don't want to, because you're good now too) go back to.

Joy" reminds very much Guerlain Samsara and Guerlain Shalimar and some other vintage perfumes of those times. Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. If that wasn't enough, the Wall Street crashed, bringing thousands of rich families to ruin and generating the biggest economic crisis in history, the “Great Depression”. Dark rose, indolic jasmine, strong tuberose and stinky civet but worked out so perfectly one has to surrender to it’s bizarre beauty when you really appreciate classic jewels from a glorious and gorgeous era. If LVMH do keep Jean Patou fragrances in production, then please do justice to its heritage and use quality absoluts. There were no testers or samples available of Joy so when I first opened the bottle it was a huge disappointment. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). in time, however, the bold edges of joy’s rose give way to a photorealistic creamy night-blooming jasmine, given depth by the ylang and the bulgarian rose.

I have a feeling that over time - even with proper storage - CIVET taints a generally balanced perfume. The one positive I can offer is this vintage bottle doesn't hold all those awful chemicals that make up modern fragrances. Straight up class in a bottle, but be careful not to over-apply to avoid headaches and nausea, but that can be said for nearly all perfumes. I guess this might be as sensual to our great grandmothers and fathers as an amber frag would be for us today. In 1927, tanned skin was the new chic and Jean Patou conceived Chaldea oil, the first sunscreen product – never before seen. LVMH could have kept the entire line of JP fragrances in production and show respect to a cult almost one century old. and other greats, the composition of Joy is so pure and exact, it renders the fiction of perfume invisible and makes it feel not as a wear but as an identity that you take over or decide to cohabitate.
