An overwhelming lack of formatting makes the site hard to read and navigate, not to mention makes it hard to tell the actual site content apart from the Google ads. For example, they mention it's a big hit, has great little details, and is a great set overall for kids. Her cute face peers out of the rectangular visor of a Blue spacesuit and best of all, the 1X3 arch that makes up her body has a little Classic Space logo on one side! Due for general release in June, Benny's Spaceship is possibly the most eagerly anticipated set of the year so far, and certainly that of the LEGO Movie range. The Lego Movie was a wonderful mix of whimsy and heart, telling an age-old story of an everyman coming into his own. Wyldstyle appears in her space form… which actually tells me I need to go watch the movie again and see if she was actually wearing this when they escaped. It arrived as a box of bits, all jumbled up and in none of the numbered bags big sets tend to come in straight from the factory these days: 70816 Bennys Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!

Parts-wise it's great; it uses a Space seat, and the 1X4 inverted bow that came out in 2013 - in Black, sadly, as I'd have loved to get this in a grey shade, but it looks fine. I love the Trans-Yellow elements but may or may not have preferred the 1x4 trans-yellow panels to be bricks, but as I was not heavily into the classic space sets at my age back then (never liked the classic helmet), it doesn't really bother me, and the panels may provide useful if I ever decide to make a MOC. Details inside the craft begin to be added, including the traditional bank of controls using 2X2 45° slopes with differing prints on them. Both are of similar thickness; their glossy covers have acres of space making the ship look a little lost. The big standout though has got to be the head, which I’m just waiting to show up in some Fallout or Killzone related minifigures.

Opening hatches, detachable ships, a rather one-sided battle with a dinky black ship, shooty things and extendable wings - the set is a load of fun. This is probably my favourite bit of homage in this whole set; they're adorable and will be really useful. All in all, while there seems to be some interesting activity on the site it seems to be the very opposite of user-friendly, and the reference material it offers is less comprehensive and more poorly-presented than the sites used in this review. Module One builds the smaller ships; you'll get to see them later, but see here and here for their unstickered versions. A more modern part, the 1X4X1 panel, also comes in Trans-Yellow for the first time (Element ID 6065601 | Design ID 30413) and there are three.

In short, a beautiful ship that works wonderfully as a Lego Movie piece, fits in perfectly with a Classic Space collection, or just for parts for you to build your own grand Classic Space adventure. Since it's completely hidden in the build, it could have been any color - Black probably would have been more cost-efficient since there's already one of those elsewhere in the set - so I can't help but think Bright Red was a deliberate choice to include LEGO's most iconic element. They mention that it is an all-around awesome set, with great little details and sturdy construction. The sticker sheet is just outstanding, as it also includes sticker versions of classic space computer screens and buttons. Still, you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise, even allowing for the clash of old and new and grey, and even though the ideal comparator - the iconic 928 itself - isn't shown here. The shape is admittedly less easy to discern from the top, but you do get to see how each section of the ship bulks out progressively front to rear. It's a nice decal, but it decided it would immediately attach itself at a kooky angle, and removing it to reposition left half of the adhesive behind.
