Although Bluetooth headphones tend to have high audio lag, one way of countering this issue is using a different Bluetooth codec than the standard SBC. Not all headphones have additional codec support, though. Enter the Shure: they support aptX-LL, a low latency codec that helps ensure your audio and visuals stay in sync while watching your favorite shows. However, you'll need to ensure you have a Bluetooth adapter or transmitter that supports it. Some TVs have built-in support for this codec, but it's rare. The cushion of 185 has a premium look with velour-covered earpads. On the other hand, the 175 earpads get dense after using them for a few weeks. Coming complete with a separate wireless transmitter (TR175), the headphones (HDR175) enjoy a range around ten times further standard Bluetooth headphones. This lets you use them all around your home and even out into the garden.

Wrap-up

The RS175 is an interesting category for this type of wireless device. On the one hand, you definitely don’t want the headphones to die in the middle of a movie or a game. On the other hand, you’re theoretically not bringing them on the go, so you’re always around a charger. Sennheiser bills the battery life at about 18 hours of listening time on a single charge. We can say that this is close, though perhaps a bit optimistic, considering how our battery life was trending. Sony MDR RF995: You get a more affordable pair of RF headphones with Sony’s entry into the at-home wireless headphone space, but you won’t get quite as high-quality connectivity.

The two headphones come with almost the same accessories. Both include analog and optical cables for connecting the transmitter to a source, two rechargeable AAA batteries for the headphones, and a power adapter with multiple plugs for different regions. The only difference between them is the type of analog cable included: the RS 175 come with a 1/8 in (3.5 mm) analog cable that can be connected to a regular headphone port, while the RS 185 include an RCA analog cable. In case, you are looking for a headphone for studio use, then you can go for Sennheiser HD280Pro. They were light, bright sounding and used regular AAA rechargeable batteries, but had an annoying habit of blasting you with static if they lost a signal. I couldn't count the times I'd fallen asleep in front of the tv and been woken by a savage blast of static at 3am, signaling it's time to go to bed. I wouldn't be surprised to learn my wife requested this function from Sennheiser to save her having to wake me herself. You can use the balance buttons to make one side louder, which is especially beneficial if one of your ears is impaired and can’t hear as much as the other. The level control button is used for switching between automatic level control (ALC) and manual level control (MLC). In ALC mode, the headphones automatically adjust for sudden volume jumps when watching TV and listening to music, but it only works when using an analog connection.

All Reviews

Like in the design section, the RS 175 and the RS 185 have more similarities than differences in overall performance. They use the same RF wireless technology with excellent wireless range and very low latency. They have the same battery type, battery life, charging time, power-saving features, digital connection option, and pairing setup. Furthermore, the transmitters of both headphones can connect to two audio sources and pair with two headphones at the same time. However, you can lower the leakage by keeping the volume at a moderate level. Does It have a Noise-Canceling Feature? And if you are a hardcore audiophile, you should not buy this as it won’t meet the standard or need you are looking for.
