About this deal

The EO Mini Pro 2 charges at speeds up to 7.2KW. Annoyingly, you can’t set the charge rate in the EO app; your EO Approved Installer does this during installation. A charge point with Smart Control enables your energy provider access to manage your car charge while simultaneously managing grid demand, so as to minimise network disruption and keep your costs low. Most home chargers deliver the charging capacity of 3kW or 7kW. Some 22kW chargers can be installed, delivering a charge of around 40 miles in roughly an hour. Note that they require a three-phase supply, rather than the single-phase most UK residential homes are built with, and not all vehicles will accept that power delivery from a home supply. Pod Point’s latest smart charger, the Solo 3, has a decent app and is available as a tethered or untethered unit. It’s also available as a 22kW 3-phase charger – ideal for car parks. It lets you schedule charging and monitor sessions. The Ohme chargers – ePod and Home Pro – have more smart features and the Home Pro has the advantage of an in-built display. Overall, the Pod Point is a decent charger, but the Ohme chargers are better. Hypervolt vs Zappi The circuit board inside the EO Mini Pro has a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) that acts as the computer with a separate control board for power control. Both are capable of receiving firmware updates automatically. EO Mini Pro 2 design

EO recommend a 20A rated supply for a 16A charging station and a 40A supply for a 32A charging station. Your electrics will be rated for 16A or 32A already but may need upgrading depending on how much power you draw. The EO Smart Home App is simple to use and displays all important data, like energy use, charge duration and current session time on one screen. You control everything with the EO smartphone app (more on this below), so your only real interaction with the EO Mini Pro 2 is handling the cable and plugging it in. Charging speeds

Session details are stored in the cloud, letting you view charging sessions at all times whether the vehicle is plugged in or not. Though they started in Suffolk and their products are still made in the UK, they now distribute these to more than 35 countries around the world. As of December 2021, EO had installed 60,000 charging points across the UK, Ireland, and Scandinavia. Zappi and Ohme are brands at the top of their game with the Zappi v1.2 and Ohme ePod and Home Pro. The Zappi has unbeatable solar and renewables integration, so if you have solar panels, it’s the best option. The Zappi v2.1 is also available as a tethered or untethered charger. The Ohme ePod and Home Pro have a kWh price cap feature so you never pay more for electricity than you want, and they also have better app, but don’t do solar. Overall, our top-rated charger is the Ohme ePod with the Zappi v2.1 behind it. Pod Point vs Ohme

The Indra Smart PRO has the excellent Kaluza app, solar integration, and a BOOST button that overrides any schedules and charge settings for max power. However, in 2020 they launched their first EO Mini home charger and entered the home market. Since then, they have become a competitive home EV charging solution. With IP54 (IP66 on some models) certification, the precious mechanics of your charger will be protected from dust. It’s so robust that it even claims to operate in -25ºC conditions!

Mini Pro 3 automatically adjusts the output of your charger alongside other energy hungry home appliances. One service offering tariff integration is Intelligent Octopus, which delivers green electric vehicle charging through its next-generation platform. By providing six hours of cheap, green energy during off-peak hours (11.30 pm to 5.30 am) at a rate of 10p per kWh, users can charge their EVs more sustainably and affordably. The Intelligent Octopus app lets users set their charging preferences, so they are always in control of their energy usage. The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro has one of the best apps, a premium design and voice control, as well as epic reliability and performance. The highly connected Andersen A2 is all about style. Sporting a Scandi-style minimalist design but made in the UK, the unit is designed to hide the cables away and can be customised in a number of different colours to coordinate with your home decor. According to EO, they want to be the bridge between traditional fuel-powered vehicles and electric vehicles, by providing a “new charging ecosystem”.
