In the middle of the book the brother gets kidnapped and it was so exciting that I didn't want to stop reading it. Some of the funniest books around are children's books, so you're in for a treat with these favourites below. K.A Star Lad) doesn't like super heroes but is then made one by an alien ,the worst thing is he won't even wear a cape. If you chose this fantastic book you will not regret it you would finish a page and wont to read it over and over again.

Siblings can be annoying, a responsibility, and the best person to team up with – or all of those things at once! When a poorly-timed toilet break causes comic superman Luke to miss out on being bestowed with superpowers by an intergalactic being, he has to come to terms with his brother becoming Star Lad. If so you should try it because one of the characters will tell you how they lost a one in a lifetime opportunity. my most favorite part was when Luke needs a wee but when he comes back and realises his brother Zack is a super hero he is devastated that it wasn't him.

It blends an exhaustive knowledge of fantasy fiction in books, film, television, comics and computer games (which works even for uninitiates) with a well-observed understanding of family relationships, sibling rivalry, friendships and the things that can be horrible about starting secondary school. Just when eleven-year-old Luke goes for a wee, his undeserving, geeky older brother meets aliens and gains SUPERPOWERS! The funniest thing I found when I was reading the book was the quote "I could have been one too, except I needed a wee". Be careful, though - there's a danger of actual tears and serious stomach-hurt from doubling-over with laughter.

Rory Rooney is unremarkable in almost everything, apart from his capacity to attract the attention of the school bully. I found it funny when Lara tells Zack that her sister Cara has a thing about capes so he puts it on! I love the book so much that we’ve given it to a few other children in the neighborhood for their birthdays. Lots of references to superheroes but you can enjoy the book without having extensive knowledge of this genre, although it’s frustrating that the reference to ‘14 fingers’ is never fully explained? While he’s gone, an alien gives his undeserving, never-read-a-comic-in-his-life brother superpowers and then tells him to save the universe.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It was funny that the little brother wanted to be a superhero but he couldn't because he needed a wee. His geeky brother Zack gets to be world-saving Star Lad instead, but Luke has his race-against-time moment when Zack is kidnapped. What it reminds me most of is the TV show 'The Flash' when Wally West is jealous of Jessie Quick when she gets the power of speed and he doesn'. Sara Ogilvie's illustrations add an even more warm, hilarious background to Earle's realistic family.
