Although it isn’t one of my top favorites in the series, I definitely think it would be a great one to start off with if you’re looking for your first Lars Kepler read!

I have long come to enjoy the work of Lars Kepler, especially with the detailed narrative and strong storyline. It very much feels like the type of middle chapter that arrives between a major resolution and the beginning of the next main event. It seems almost impossible for the police to get him to reveal what he saw the night Jenny’s body was disposed of.

The Mirror Man" is dark Scandi-noir with a side of masochism, slavery, drugs, brutality, torture, neo-Nazism kidnapping and people trafficing. with one caveat - there is no figure of the crucified Jesus on the mink skull, I have been looking at them on the Internet.Like all the previous Killer Instinct novels, Joona Linna is back as the main character, although Kepler continues the trend of writing from multiple character points-of-view; some for a single chapter, others are major characters throughout the story. Definitely one of the most addictive novels I've read in my 2022 advanced reading- I'm a fan of Lars Kepler anyway and I think this might be my favourite yet. But I’ve seen very little representation of characters with DID in pop culture, one of them being the movie Split with James McAvoy. With the police getting closer to the killer the girls being held captive are put in greater danger. How do they keep their readers interested, while also providing the same types of stories that drew them in the first place?

Com uma premissa assustadora e pouco reveladora dos detalhes mais grotescos que li na saga, apenas aviso: preparem-se porque é intenso do início ao fim! When I look for a strong police procedural with psychologistal thriller aspects, I need look no further than Lars Kepler. It is no great reveal to say that Christian extremists are extremely dangerous, but The Mirror Man turns the spotlight fully on them and engages with the violence and misogyny hiding behind the feeble veneer of “religion. It is not clear how much time has passed between books, but The Mirror Man sees Joona Linna back to working full-time as a police detective as he encounters a new, dark mystery dating back several years.Cutting to the present day, Pamela is balancing her ongoing grief with her desire to move on, while Martin’s trauma at falling through the ice with Alice, but being rescued, has resulted in a severe form of PTSD.

This series is new to me and I look forward to finding the time to read more of the books in this series. This is really the first time we spend time with his introspection on the page, and he never lets go of the thought process even as he is drawn even deeper into the mystery surrounding Caesar. There is a careful balancing act that authors have to consider, balancing the storytelling with the business of selling books, but readers will love the ones who manage it, even if they are unaware of the work going into each new book. I kind of was figuring things out yet if what I was figuring out was to make sense I wanted to know how the authors were going to sell it because I really doubted a lot of my inklings so to speak and I had strong doubts that this novel would make any sense in the end. When another girl goes missing the abduction has all the earmarks of the first and Joona decides they're the work of a serial killer. Detective Joona Linna gets involved and when another girl goes missing, he fears a killer is escalating his activities. But as the police close in on their suspect, Joona finds himself in a seemingly impossible race against time to save the lives of the murderer's next young victims. The scenes are so well described that you feel Joona's angst as well as feeling like a fly on the wall in every scene. It is a very long book, and, I must warn you, it is not an easy read, but I finished it in no time as it had me hooked.
