FF follows Farley (Fee) an up and coming comedienne, to take the next step in her career a suggestion is made that she might “fake date” her manager Meyer who had his own comedic success at an earlier age but leans more into writing now as he balances working with being a single dad to his deaf daughter Hazel (totes book MVP btw she is legit the best! I loved this book so much it gave me everything I love, it gave fake dating, it gave friends to lovers, it gave single dad, it gave everything! Friends-to-lovers and fake dating are my favorite tropes so the fact that it had BOTH made me so dang happy. She keeps her feelings hidden because Meyer is her closest friend and his daughter, Hazel has become so important to her too that she doesn't want to mess anything up between them.

The dynamic and chemistry between Farley and Meyer is engaging, the story provides both characters perspectives, it's full of humour and warmth, and the time line flows easily between past and present. Meyer honestly sounded so hottt and I adored his relationship with his daughter Hazel, it had me feeling all gooey on the inside.Their chemistry is evident, even when they’re forcing themselves to stay in their professional lanes. Farley and Meyer are front and center, and I appreciated that they had such good reasons not to cross any lines – until now. She’s also entirely oblivious to any of the complications it causes her father, and he intends to keep it that way, which is maybe why I’m a bit in love with him, too. Chase Marshall is many things: · An attentive single dad · Jaw-droppingly gorgeous · My employer for the next thirty days He’s also the bane of my existence.

Babysitting the team troublemaker when he’s forced to volunteer for the foundation where I work means I can’t exactly avoid him.I told you that joke was shitty,” he says with mirth in his icy blue eyes as I turn off my mic and earpiece.

Towards 50-60% it started reading like a summary, like all of the important stuff that this slow burn has been building towards was just glossed over. When I went back to that dingy motel room with the tempting stranger from the bar, I had no idea that he was my older brother's best friend. My reading tastes are eclectic, so you're likely to see a variety in the books I choose to highlight.Meyer’s relationship with his daughter is swoon-worthy, and his character’s protective nature is attractive. One is an article format of a journalist interviewing Farley some years later and it provides details of where they are. A former comic, Meyer disappeared from the spotlight years ago and has been mastering the role of single father to an adorable, deaf daughter ever since. I found some repetition of dialogue unnecessary and lazy, it changed the flow of the story when the characters began sharing their thoughts and feelings with each other which just echoed the earlier narrative pretty much verbatim.

Friends to lovers, fake dating, age gap, single dad trope, and a whole lot of representation for the deaf community.I’d rather tell shitty fart jokes and make fun of myself than be an asshole in the name of being edgy.
