The 10 has plenty of fans and scored highly in the online whisky realm, becoming Ralfy’s whisky of the year 2022.

In 2012, during the driest summer for thirty years, the distillery was forced to halt production temporarily, to preserve the quality and consistency of its whisky. This mystery peated whisky from the Isle Of Mull is a spirit known by the original distillery name, meaning ‘safe haven’. The depth of character and complexity is testament to a well crafted whisky, evident of only the finest ingredients and barrels and also no added colouring and non chilled filtered.Creamy mouthfeel packed full of almonds, barley and sweet malt with notes of peppery Ledaig, which give way to black raspberries, sweet vanilla and cocoa interspersed with cinnamon spice and hints of freshly cut grass. Each malt reflects our inspiring island – from the bright, vibrant and fruity Tobermory to the more robust, peated Ledaig, with sweet smoke and earthy notes.

The reek from the burning peat is absorbed by the barley through the husk of the grain, and the reek remains through the mashing, fermentation and distillation processes, eventually leading to a single malt with a highly distinctive peaty, smoky taste.Matured in ex-American Oak for 13 years before a 7 year finish in a Muscat Wine cask, this cask strength 20 year old single malt brings notes of honey sweetness, stewed plums and a spicy nutmeg finish. A 10 year old from the Tobermory distillery on Mull, a Gold Medal winner at the 2008 International Wine and Spirits Competition. I think a few wee sample bottles coming in the post are easier to justify to my better half than a larger box and the judging eyes burning in the back of my skull when the postman arrives. The label clearly and transparently shows you all the key information, including: the nature of the liquid (for example, single malt scotch) where it was distilled; how old it is; and how strong it is. So when we created our bottles we wanted to design something that felt like a decanter - meant to be passed around a group of friends, new and old, as they enjoy sharing a dram together.
