Stargrave review – a slightly stymied sci-fi-sequel | Wargamer
Or perhaps just in this thread (and maybe a painting/crews show off in the painting/modelling section? As an example, any crew member can be a robot, with rules which distinguish them from organics, or they could be any sort of alien so long as they are of equivalent strength and ability to a standard, Star Trek-style humanoid with funny head prosthetics. If you've done this, you know how much of a pain it is, and how easy it is to take a foot off by mistake. A customisable gang of spacefarers, character progression across a persistent campaign, a panoply of quasi-mystical tech-powers, and an expansive, interpretable sci-fi universe, spanning dense swamps, and the pitch-black gangways of derelict warships: Stargrave looks to have all the makings of a riveting tabletop RPG. and I was thinking that termagaunts might be useful as the "insect-y humanoid foody thing" and the old purple worm makes sense as the 20-foot worms.

Besides Stargrave’s eminently enjoyable tabletop gameplay, one problem persists: it can’t square its frenetic fighting with its roleplaying potential. With six central combat stats – move, fight, shoot, armour, will, and health – listed for each unit, and determining every interaction in-game, it’s remarkably easy to keep track of your crew’s specialities. It took a little conversion work to get Aragorn just the way I wanted him, but after that, I was on a quest.
