Freya North's profound affection and admiration for Harris and the Outer Hebrides leap off every page. It's a quietly gripping story about family and belonging, and follows the story of three people whose lives intersect.

As lucky as I feel, I also know that being determined to help myself meant I was ready to embark on a relationship that is deep, fulfilling and trusting. The story slowly drew me in and I became invested in the characters - the ending was particularly moving. When Nell finds her mother’s wayward memory throws up doubts about her own provenance, the answers could be discovered in a remote part of Scotland. This made sense on many levels, and as my body healed and grew stronger, it struck me I needed a roadmap for my mental wellbeing too. Little Wing is a story about resilience, forgiveness and the true meaning of family, about finding one’s place in the world and discovering how we all belong somewhere and to someone. Although it was a slow burner and I nearly gave up at 170 pages but something told me to keep going . Nell was overflowing with love and kindness, she had dedicated her life to working with and supporting those who needed it most. We learn about how Florence navigates teenage pregnancy and motherhood with no family, no friends in a very foreign place.

Great character and giovana fletcher describes the life she has in great detail and is Great at putting the reader in this chacters shoes. The characters of Sophia Keaton and Gordon Munro are very attractive and it is no surprise that the original idea for the novel came from a memoir of a real district nurse of the Outer Hebrides. And when I found out I needed back surgery, it was like heavy dark curtains closing around my world. Little Wing is the first book that I've read by Freya North and I was absolutely captivated by her beautiful writing.

She had such strength of character and I loved how she found her place in the world, in a way she would never have expected. Between the sprawl of London, suburban Essex, and the wild, unpredictable Outer Hebrides, three lives collide and interweave as questions are asked and secrets surface. There is no hatred or distrust, just a determination to find out the truth and what she finds out is a story of love, devotion and strength. The stories told within the novel are a true depiction of ordinary people living extraordinary lives. I enjoyed the characters and while it was hard to make out quite what was going on in the beginning, come the middle and end, I was able to relax into the different story lines.In fact, more importantly it showed that Nell remembers the good times much more than the harder days. Every fibre of my being goes into these books and I really can feel extremely emotional during the telling of the story, especially when there are themes of grief or loneliness or fear or anxiety. At the start of the story, it is depicted that Vita and Tim’s relationship come to end after which they decide to move on in life.
