I just felt like Cody didn't develop as a person from when he and Ris were last about to get married. The idea behind this slow burn made sense: Cody was the groveling hero who had to win back the love of his life after leaving her at the altar 10 years prior, but man, whatever I ended up reading to reach that peak annoyed me a little bit. Like we get it but I myself wouldn’t want to meet the ex that broke my heart after years and still remain poor and all that. Slow burn with lots of snappy retorts from both MCs, the romance took its time to build even with the chemistry and when they finally got together the romance fizzled for me wasn’t given much detail even though both MCs loved each other. She’s weak in the knees, and her flimsy morals bother me because I expected her to be a bit more head strong (really head strong not this fake shit authors do.
