As the meaning behind their label name suggests (a rough translation from Spanish as 'hill view') Loma Vista has climbed to the summit of today's musical landscape, engaging and representing a sweeping range of the most popular scenes and genres of today. I'd recommend picking up the albums separately, I don't see any merit in choosing this instead, unless you really like the colour or something. Over the last few months he has disarmed packed rooms of rowdy concert goers, leaving them silent as they hold fast to every syllable sung. It is dreamy house with gently breaking synth waves and majestic twinkling chords as well as some brilliantly sultry sax lines and vocals. Doesn’t affect sound quality but I’ll get Swimming fixed because there is something about a warped record that makes my skin crawl.

Two of the discs were flat as pancakes, the second LP of swimming was warped and the first one of Circles was just a little warped. Both Swimming and Circles are pretty sub-par pressings, but Swimming is especially poor with a lot of surface noise and pops. It's a momentous final entry into the discography of an artist that remains at the center of reimagining the limits of rap. A routinely great artist, much of Sufjan's universal appeal comes from his skills as a gifted narrator, pairing personal musings on love and devotion with commentary on American culture, whilst welding folk and electronica, the ambient and existential.
