BTS have released a trailer in promotion of their first book upcoming book, Beyond the Story: 10-year Record of BTS. I think it's no surprise to anyone that I finished this in one sitting, not even leaving my room to eat or drink water. After taking their first step into the world on June 13, 2013, BTS will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut in June 2023.

You can read this before Beyond The Story: 10-Year Record of BTS PDF EPUB full Download at the bottom. Though their fear and imposter syndrome receded over later years, one aspect stayed the same: the never-ending schedule. This interactive element enhances the reading experience and makes it easier to dive deeper into BTS’s music and visual creations. The strategy proved prescient years later, when video streams became the default way for Korean celebrities to talk to fans. Through such avenues, art encourages fantasy to take a life on its own, connected to but not absorbed wholly by the artist. THE FIRST EVER OFFICIAL BOOK–Published in celebration of BTS’s 10th Anniversary, stories that go beyond what you already know about BTS, including unreleased photos, QR codes of videos, and all album information. Concept photos and tracklists of all their previous albums further immerse readers in the world of BTS.

BTS were reluctant to comment about the validity of such interpretations at a press conference, simply saying they’d leave it up to the listeners. I wouldn't go into it expecting to learn much (more) about them personally, or in any way unrelated to the band, though. The book would have benefited from heavy editing and as it is, could have gotten the message across in half the length or less. It was released to tie in with both BTS’s anniversary and their hiatus, undertaken so that the members could enrol in mandatory Korean military service. But a traumatic history of “sweet, bitter” remained in their consciousness, clouding their successes.

Its release coincided with BTS’s wrap-up of the Love Yourself album trilogy and a world tour that spanned 62 concerts in 14 countries over 14 months. Still, it would have been nice to explore some humanizing aspects more in detail — for example, when RM had to confront that his great hip hop influences had a culture of misogyny and how he in response worked to improve his perspective — but the book merely mentions and moves on from these in-depth moments of development, as though it’s afraid to acknowledge the members as having any flaws at all. This is very much a book for ARMY, in that it is a loving portrait of BTS, but in that same vein, I found I learned almost nothing new about the band in spite of the detailed history.

Even though BTS had made history several times by the time “Dynamite,” its first English-language song, was released in August 2020, not all of the band members initially thought it was a good idea. Most of the issues in this book boil down to the fact that it reads like an article, which is not surprising, given that the author is mostly a journalist. The disco-pop tune contrasted with the rest of the tracks on the album, “Be,” which struck a more somber and melancholic tone. While many of the BTS members wondered how they made it to their debut without quitting, Jin said adjusting to life in the dorm prepared him for the surreal state of being an “idol” in the K-pop world. Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS is a remarkable book published in celebration of BTS’s 10th anniversary. They also go in depth with explaining how overwhelming their international success became and why they almost decided to disband at the beginning of 2018.
