Description

Horus called the Emperor foolish for refusing the power that the Chaos Gods offered to men, and timid for not taming them to his will if He was truly the Master of Mankind as he claimed. Horus proclaimed that if the Emperor would kneel before him, then he would spare His life. The Blood Angels finally shine, if in a tragic and dark way. I want more from ADB on the Revenant Legion. The same characters we have been following (including the Howl of the Hearthworld) have their stories wrapped up, or some probably wished it was wrapped up.

Siege of Terra Book 7 - Warhammer Community

In the original lore, Lorgar himself led the Word Bearers on Terra. [Needs Citation] However as of the events of the novel Slaves to Darkness, Lorgar is banished from Horus' sight for attempting to usurp him and instead the Word Bearers at Terra were led by Zardu Layak. [4]With the spaceports secured, Horus' remaining troops of the Traitor Legions and their mortal auxilia and Dark Mechanicum support forces landed en masse, and the hulking transports carried thousands of troops each as well as bringing to the battlefield the terrible Chaos Titans that served the Warmaster's cause and had been possessed by the daemonic entities of Chaos. The transports' immense size made them prime targets for Terra's ground-based Defence Lasers. As a vast taritor horde of traitor Astartes, Imperial Army, Beastmen, Mutants, Daemons, Titans, and other horrors massed on the horizon, only some 70,000 defenders mustered on the Delphic Battlement before the processional to the Eternity Gate. These were mainly Blood Angels and Imperial Army, but Imperial Fists, White Scars, Legio Ignatum, and Mechanicum loyalists were also represented. Corswain offered to send his own forces defending the Astronomican to aid the defenders, but Sanguinius refused them to the vital nature of the Dark Angels Paladins mission. [22a] Three full Titan Legions of the Mechanicum and close to two million soldiers of the Imperialis Auxilia stood alongside them to face the Traitors in a battle that would determine the fate of Mankind for the next 10,000 years.

All the loyalists are on their last legs. The World Eaters' minds are fraying completely and everything is building to the confrontation between a demi-god and daemon prince. Yet amongst the dust and slaughter, there’s a tenderness here – whether that’s an Astartes realizing that he’s not shown the appreciation for the thralls that have loyally served him, or an egotistical genius showing some affection to a skitari. The victories of Saturnine and the sacrifices of the Eternity Wall spaceport have faded into the hope of yesterday. Denied but not defeated, the traitors intensify their assault on the Imperial Palace. With the principal spaceports in Horus' hands, the Warmaster now drains the heavens of his reserves. Nevertheless, Horus lowered the void shields of his great vessel, the Gloriana-class Battleship Vengeful Spirit. The lowering of these shields was detected by the Loyalist vessels in orbit and the information was relayed to the Imperial Palace. In some versions of the tale, this blast was only able to pierce the Warmaster's body through the hole that had been made by Sanguinius before his death. Just before Horus died, he looked his father in the eye, shedding a single tear, begging his father to forgive him for his betrayal.

I will be the first to admit that sometimes, ADB's writing has not been as great for me as seems to be the consensus. The grimmerdark gets a bit old, and I wish occasionally the bad guys would suffer a bit more for being bad. With the release of Siege of Terra: Echoes of Eternity this weekend, the Warmaster’s forces push forward on Terra, and the epic conflict takes one step closer to its ultimate end. The final moments are now at hand. The Siege of Terra, also called the Battle of Terra and the Siege of the Imperial Palace in Imperial records, is a reference to the final confrontation of the Horus Heresy that raged on Terra in 014.M31 between the Traitor forces led by the Warmaster Horus and the Loyalist armies of the Imperium of Man commanded by the Emperor of Mankind Himself.

Echoes of Eternity (Volume 7) [Hardcover] Dembski-Bowden

Fury of Magnus is the second novella in The Siege of Terra series and is written by Graham McNeill. Of all the Emperor's sons who fell to Chaos, it is perhaps Magnus the Red whose tale is the most tragic. Sanctioned because of his desire for knowledge, chastised, judged, and shattered to his very elements -- there is much for the Crimson King to feel vengeful for. Yet revenge is not the only thing that draws him to Terra alongside the Warmaster Horus' besieging armies. He seeks something, a fragment, the missing piece of himself that lies within the most impregnable place on the planet -- the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace. As the greatest conflict of the ages reaches fever pitch, Magnus fights his own inner battle. To be whole once more, he must not only overcome the fiercest of defences, but also face the one being whom he loves and hates with equal fervour more than any other -- his errant father, the Emperor of Mankind. Devastated by the Space Wolves' destruction of his Legion's precious storehouses of knowledge about the Immaterium and sorcery in their lost Prosperine capital city of Tizca, and having turned to the Chaos God Tzeentch to save himself and his Astartes Legion, Magnus pledged his allegiance and the allegiance of the Thousand Sons Legion to Horus and Chaos in retaliation against the Emperor for this betrayal. The Thousand Sons were en route to Terra where they would link up with Horus' forces. The exact identity of the brave warrior is a source of much debate amongst Imperial historians, for today only the Emperor knows the truth. The Adeptus Ministorum tell the story that it was a lone Imperial Army trooper named Ollanius Pius who held the line, going as far as to canonise the man as the Guardian Saint of the Astra Militarum in the 32 nd Millennium, yet many doubt that mere humans would have accompanied the Emperor and His Primarchs to confront Horus. Battle of Phall • Battle of Ravendelve • Battle of the Alaxxes Nebula • Siege of the Perfect Fortress • Chondax Campaign • Second Battle of Prospero • First Siege of Hydra Cordatus • Battle of the Furious Abyss • Battle of Calth • Battle of Armatura • Shadow Crusade • Percepton Campaign • Battle of Iydris • Thramas Crusade • Fall of Baztel III • Battle of Vannaheim • Second Battle of Paramar • Battle of Constanix II • Siege of Epsilon-Stranivar IX • Treachery at Port Maw • Manachean War • Mezoan Campaign • Battle of Bodt • Battle of Dwell • Battle of Molech Dan Abnett: I honestly feel quite dazed and confused. When we set out, we knew it would be a major project, and that it would probably appeal to a lot of people. But we had no idea just how significant it would become, or how big it would get in every sense of the word. It’s been very – let’s say – demanding. The established story of the Heresy that we were using was very detailed in places, with sections of the mythology set in stone in ways that every reader knew. But there were also big gaps and, because that mythology had evolved over the years, many contradictions. Instead, the Word Bearers still loyal to the Warmaster are led to Terra by the Dark Apostle Zardu Layak.
