Description

The Berghaus Air 4 costs more than double of the cheapest 4-person air tents on this list, so I am eager to find out if the double-price is justified. Size Because there is only one door and the large PVC windows cannot be opened, the Eurohike Genus 400 can get really warm inside in the summer. On the other hand, thanks to the light-grey flysheet, it feels bright and less depressing than other tents with the dark indigo blue fabric. Weather protection, fabrics Flysheet

There’s one thing worth noting is that the Quechua Air Seconds and the Genus 400 don’t have side doors, the other three have. This may not be that big of an issue, but bear in mind that it also affects your ability to create a steady draught across the tent in warmer weather. Bedrooms The bedroom divider can be removed if you’d rather have one big bedroom. As a matter of fact, the whole ‘inner tent’ can be removed if you needed more living space during the day. Note that the inner tent can always remain attached so it is easy when you pitch the tent, the inner is always ready. One good side of this is also that you have a dry setup, the inner remains fully protected if you are forced to pitch the tent when it is raining. The floor plan and the dimensions. The Berghaus Air 4 and the Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 has some really nice features like the rain-brow over the side door. The most user-friendly small family air tent

Camping

Again, depending on how many people are going to use it, and what their relationship is…I mean, if you are camping with two smaller children it may be perfectly fine, as long as you don’t mind sleeping close to each other. Alternatively, you can save space with a bunk-bed for example. The scoring is very straightforward: I review and rank the air tents under every section and each get a point or points according to their rank. The overall winner is the one with the least points. I compared them in 5 categories; A bigger uncle, the Vango Odyssey Air 400; or the Odyssey Air 500are for those who need a bit more space for their sleeping area; and for those who want impressive stability and weather resilience. The Odysseys have both: thanks to their inner tension system they can withstand winds up to 70mph. It’s getting a bit difficult here, as the Eurohike Air 400 and the Berghaus Air 4 play slightly above the league of the rest. These two have sewn-in groundsheets, while the others have loose that are secured to the flysheet by velcro. Loose groundsheet vs sewn-in groundsheet I also appreciate the brow over the side door of the Berghaus Air 4 and the front door of the Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 Frequent usage & deterioration

To give that price some context we then looked at all of the products available from Go Outdoors in the 3 – 4 Person Tents category. We found 21 items in total. What’s the price of 3 – 4 Person Tents?

Help & Support

The strongest contender in this section is the Berghaus Air 4, as Berghaus has an additional porch that is compatible with all Berghaus air tents. Bear in mind though, that the Berghaus porch is almost as expensive as the tent itself. Unusually for this price category, there is a drop and roll point for a flat entry point at the side door, this is handy when you have push chairs or little ones running in and out all day. So this Eurohike Genus 400 Air Tent is a tunnel-shaped structure supported with air beams instead of classic poles. One peculiar detail is that its 3 air beams are positioned from outside and you can see them in the pictures. So this is equivalent to those classic tents with poles sleeves from the outside. The Pavillo did not come out well from this comparison. There are some good things about it like the 5000mm HH flysheet and its size, but even considering the subjective nature of this comparison (ie. I could have ranked it higher), it clearly belongs to the second half of the league table. There are however some methods that you can use to determine a product’s quality without needing to physically have it.

The fabric is 100 % polyester: it is soft and more importantly is breathable, condensation can pass through easier. When shopping for a festival tent, it’s tempting to go straight for the cheapest option – and in our current cost of living crisis, some of us have no choice on that front. But you can still get decent features from a cheaper tent, as the waterproof Regatta Malawi Pop Up Tent proves. Besides the large mesh door panel, the sunlight can get in through two PVC see-through windows; however, these do not open. But the bedroom is not really very wide. On the other hand, the living room has almost the same floor space as the bedroom, and it offers full protection. So if necessary, the tent can indeed accommodate more than 4 people. You can find a detailed, head-to-head comparison of Eurohike Air 400 vs. Eurohike Genus 400 vs Berghaus Air 4 (and two more entry level small family tents) here: The picture below shows its floor plan and the most important dimensions. The yellow area on the right is its inner tent that makes a bedroom. On the left is the living room.
