Description

Braun Manual nasal aspirator 1 is an easy to use device that helps with feeding, breathing and sleeping by providing instant relief from nasal congestion in little ones. Suitable from 0+ months, it's as gentle as can be because you are in control of the suction power. Relief is simple and fuss-free, thanks to two tip sizes that give a comfortable and effective fit even for the smallest noses. In use it is simple and fuss free too, thanks to the convenient and hygienic disposable mucus filters as well as dishwasher safe parts (except the tube, which should be seperately washed with boiling water). The device is made without BPA and it's safe and robust design is built specifically to stand up to the rigours of family life and give you reliable relief from congestion whenever you need it. The manufacturer also warns against sterilising the decongester in a microwave or steam steriliser as it may cause it to explode. Which obviously isn’t ideal.

Some parents say that it’s more effective on visible runny noses rather than very bunged-up, hard-to-reach nasal passages Soap and warm water will be your best friends when it comes to cleaning a nasal aspirator. You want to fully take apart the aspirator before washing to ensure every piece gets clean. If there are spots left dirty, it’s possible for mold to grow. It works in the same way as the Nosefrida in that you power it with your own suction, and there’s also a Snufflebabe Nasal Saline Solution you can buy separately to help with softening the mucus before use.

3. Best electric baby nasal aspirator: Braun Healthcare Electrical Nasal Aspirator

When making your choice, think about what you’re comfortable doing and let that steer you in the right direction. Target age Unlike the Nosefrida Baby Nasal Aspirator, the ANYDAY does not use disposable filters, saving you even more money while also reducing your carbon footprint. Nasal aspirators are considered a safe and effective method of easing congestion in a baby’s nose, when used in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Most manufacturers recommend that their nasal aspirators should only be used up to three times a day, as excessive use may lead to further nasal irritation.

Nasal aspirators come in various designs, even though they all share the same function. As you shop, keep the following in mind. Design Avoid using a nasal aspirator more than three or four times a day. Otherwise, you run the risk of irritating your baby’s sensitive nostrils and potentially causing a nosebleed. Are electric nose aspirators safe? Just a gentle squeeze on the soft base is all you need to clear your baby’s airways, allowing for a comfortable night’s sleep or, once they're feeling less stuffy, letting them enjoy toy time on their play mat again. The ‘wings’ on the decongester also make it easy to control. Most nasal aspirators work by using suction to remove mucus from your child’s nasal passages. They are particularly useful when your child is still too young to blow their nose, which is a skill they usually acquire at around three or four years old. Frequently asked questions about nasal aspirators How often should you use a nasal aspirator on a baby? While Dr. Lavin doesn’t have a preferred type of nasal aspirator, he explains, “Just use it [nasal aspirator] judiciously—only when the mucus really is bothering the baby, not the parent.” Our recommended bulb suction device, the American Red Cross Nasal Aspirator has a special guard specifically to prevent over-insertion. How often should you suction a baby’s nose? A nasal aspirator should be cleaned after each use to prevent a build-up of bacteria which could lead to infection.

Soothing a baby or toddler with a cold or a bunged-up nose is one of the more testing and frustrating parenting challenges. It depends on the type of aspirator you have. Bulb-style aspirators should be cleaned internally by squeezing hot, soapy water into the interior, then shaking vigorously. Repeat with clean water several times, then prop the aspirator up so it can drain completely. Celebrated best products: Finally, we cross-referenced all of the above to make a longlist of the best baby nasal aspirators currently on the market. We then narrowed this list down to bring you our shortlist of the safest and most high performing nasal aspirators, as recommended and rated by real parents and experts. As well as safety, we also considered design, functionality and price point to ensure there was something for every family in our round-up. Mumsnet is the largest network of parents in the UK. We have been helping parents make their lives easier since 2000 and, in those years, we’ve investigated, tried and reviewed thousands of baby products. Transparency is really important to us and that's why we're always upfront about where we find our recommendations.

Two comfortable tips: Choose the right fit for your little one’s nostrils. Improved bigger holes of the tips will allow an enlarged suction area. Insert the device into your little one’s nostril correctly, it should be tight enough for the device to work properly. There are several different types of aspirator on the market. Each requires a tip to be placed in or around the entrance to your child’s nostril. The suction then draws the mucus out. Some nasal aspirators use the suction from your own mouth, some use a hand pump, some are electric and some attach to your vacuum cleaner. There are merits and disadvantages to each type of nasal aspirator. Are nasal aspirators good for babies? Nasal aspirators are good for babies, as long as you follow the manufacturer’s directions and don’t overuse them. Nasal aspirators help to clear the airways, allowing stuffy babies to sleep and feed more comfortably. Are nasal aspirators safe for babies? Not every nasal aspirator is designed to be used on newborns, babies, and toddlers alike. Make sure you’re getting one that’s intended for your child’s age. Cleaning method The only real downside is the Braun costs quite a bit more than the ANYDAY and the Nosefrida. But for convenience, ease of use and easy cleaning, these pennies will be well spent. Unlike the nozzles and collection cup on the Braun Healthcare Nasal Aspirator 1, the NUK Nasal Decongester is not suitable for dishwasher cleaning. However, the NUK decongester comes with a replacement nozzle and the whole thing can be cleaned with warm, soapy water. When used correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, a nasal aspirator should not be able to hurt a baby. Certain types of nasal aspirator, such as a bulb suction device, have been known to harm baby’s nostrils when not used carefully.
