Description

You can mix the blue curacao syrup, orange juice and lemon juice together in advance. Add the seltzer at the last minute so it doesn’t lose it’s fizz. We know that this is a given, but it is also something that needs to be said no matter who you are! So I went on the hunt for other ways to recreate this classic and ended up with a healthy-ish version and a not so healthy version. Both are just as simple as the original, and just as delicious too! Oranges and their peels are the main ingredients for blue curaçao but there are some variations of the formula that include other fruits, such as lemons.

Blue Curacao Milkshake - This is a fun way to liven up your dessert. Make a vanilla milkshake but add a tablespoon or two of blue curacao syrup. Not only will your milkshake turn a great blue color, but it will also have a nice orange flavor.

Variations of the Blue Mojito Recipe

Blue curacao is often mixed with coconut. It is a classic tropical drink and coconut is one of the most tropical ingredients out there! But blue curacao itself does not taste like coconut. It is an orange syrup made with laraha oranges which are a little bitter and a little sweet. It is this strong orange taste that you will get to enjoy with every sip! And that orange taste is delicious alongside coconut. Orange, coconut, pineapple, limes….it is all good! Does Blue Curacao Turn Mouth Blue? So, are you ready to give blue curacao a try? Do you think you will buy a bottle of blue curacao syrup or are you planning to make your own homemade blue curacao syrup? Whichever you choose, you are sure to make some amazing, very blue, non alcoholic drinks that everyone will enjoy!

Mix the strained orange peel juice with the cooled syrup. Add the blue food coloring to the mix and stir. Add as much food coloring as you’d like to make the curacao syrup the color you’d like. Known for the authentic flavorings in their products, Monin offers a silky smooth blue curaçao syrup that is non-alcoholic- like the other syrups on this list- whilst also being organic. This will vary from brand to brand- and many of the brands we have looked at here today have a relatively low ABV- but it usually varies from around 15% to 40%. If you don’t have a muddler, you can get by with the wrong end of a wooden spoon but a muddler does make things much easier and they are pretty inexpensive. All of the colors are the same flavor but just dyed differently. You can really transform your drinks using any of the colors of curacao syrup. How Many Types of Curacao are There? Blue Curacaois an orange liqueur invented in the 19th century by Dutch settlers on Curaçao, an island in the Caribbean. There were originally several colors of Curaçao liqueur, including clear, blue, red, green and orange. The most popular colors today are blue and clear. The liqueur is flavored with the Laraha orange peel, a special type of orange tree that grows on the island. Pour the blue curaçao syrup and the alcohol-free spirit of your choice (if you’re using it) into your glass and slowly top with lemonade. Stir gently, add ice, garnish, and serve. Place the jar in the fridge and let it sit for three weeks. Shake the jar once a week to stir up the juice well.

It’s also a showstopper in shots and drinks like the kamikaze shot, electric lemonade, and sex in the driveway. There are references that can be found in regard to the various colors of curaçao from the early 1920s, but there are no specific names as to who this person was. The sweetness of blue curacao can be easily cut with another tart citrus juice. Lime juice and lemon juice are great mixers for blue curacao. Bubbly seltzer is also a nice way to cut the sweetness of blue curacao and turn the syrup into more of a drink. Pineapple juice is also a classic ingredient to mix with blue curacao. Place the orange peels in a large mason jar along with the grape juice, vinegar and white peach juice.

If you love the taste of rum and lime, you will love this ocean blue drink that is sometimes called a Blue Curacao Mojito. When it’s made properly, this classic drink will taste refreshing and sweet. With it's delicious flavour and striking colour, it’s like capturing summer in a glass. White sugar. Granulated cane sugar. You could use raw sugar, or pure cane sugar but avoid light brown sugar, which will change the flavor. The amount of sugar is large but remember, it's syrup and meant to be sweet. Blue Curacao is a citrus flavored liqueur made with the dried peel of the bitter orange laraha, a citrus fruit, grown on the Dutch island of Curaçao.
