About this deal

SPOILER) Het enige positieve is is dat er een goeie twist zit aan t einde en dat is dat de hoofdkarakter uiteindelijk de moordenaar bleek te zijn wat je dus zelf als lezer ook niet wist. Win Lose Kill Die is the second book out by this author. It takes place as a private school where the best and the brightest are groomed for greatness. One of the best positions in the school is Head Girl. That position opens all of the doors to the top. The problem is that someone keeps killing anyone who assumes that position. Everyone believes that Salil Singh killed his girlfriend, Andrea Bell, five years ago—except Pippa Fitz-Amobi. The chapters we are reading, the normal ones, don’t seem to indicate that she isn’t scared, that she knows who did it. Like her tone does seem frightened and scared and wanting to find out who did it. She offers to search around and look for things, just for her to what? get caught? it doesn’t make much sense. The whole bathroom scene, why would she lie to us the readers about the steam in the mirror. Maybe it’s be different if she just said it, but she was lying in her first person perspective— it just didn’t make sense. And her whole personality just changed at the end, we didn’t see any of this side of her at all— there was no foreshadowing no anything. Although I didn't guess the culprit, the villain reveal required such a change in personality from one character that it didn't feel believable, and I didn't get that "it was them all along!" moment I was hoping for.

Win Lose Kill Die by Cynthia Murphy - LoveReading4Kids

In this book we meet Liz, a girl who is sweet and kind, and goes to a fancy school named Morton. She and other smart kids get the best education there. But there is something sinister going on. Something bloody. We see that no one is safe. I loved that our group of friends tried to figure out what was going on. Trying not to get killed. There is a secret society. There are secrets everywhere. At the very very beginning, I though it might’ve been Liz. When we got the initial killer chapter and then straight onto Liz, I was like this can’t be a coincidence. Not when they’re both in first person.Morton Academy is a school for specially selected, high-achieving students. Being chosen as Head Girl is an incredible honour, and everyone wants to be the successful candidate. But when Head Girls start dying in unusual and violent ways, it becomes obvious that there is a serial killer loose in the school. Liv and her friends Kat, Taylor, Marcus and Cole are determined to discover what is going on, and begin to investigate. It soon becomes apparent that no one is safe from the killer, and that becoming Head Girl may not be such a prize after all. Add in a secret society, Jewel and Bone, and an enthralling story begins. I feel that this is an author who is taking the first steps on what promises to be a very successful career. Firstly, ( this isn't a really important point ) but the riverdale reference got me cringing 😬 comparing a student to Cheryl Blossom is a bit uff... Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. Now the humans need his... She has a long-standing love affair with all things scary, reading Point Horrors at primary school before graduating to Stephen King in her misguided teens. Classic 90s and 00s horror movies are definitely her pub quiz strong point and her first love may well have been Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Studying for a degree in Art History and Archaeology meant that she developed a thirst for anything old, beautiful and very often dead. She tries to combine this with contemporary settings in her writing to make unique and chilling modern stories. I liked that this was set in a UK boarding school, although admittedly I had to constantly remind myself of this, as the story did feel very American. Liz's friends were easy to remember though, and I found myself really liking her love interest, Cole, especially as the romance was not heavy handed.Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Part of the Solve Your Own Mystery seri... Thirdly, the actual plot was shaky. Why is Elizabeth doing all of these just because of the role of headgirl. Is it just me but I don't see that as a good enough reason to go around murdering a bunch of people. The reason my rating is probably like 3.6 is because I didn't get hooked as much as other books, fr me it just seemed like people kept dying and dying and I know that's intentional to keep the book fast paced but it just didn't hook me as much. Just my personal feeling, feel free to disagree with me!

This book was INSANE. That plottwist was something I definitely thought of a few times but then I thought to myself “the author wouldn’t do that would they?” and boy was I WRONG. As the story progresses, there are some frightening incidents which are beautifully described. The author uses many devices to increase the tension; a seance at a party, shadowy figures hiding in the dark. The scene in which Niamh is in a deserted underground station and hears the sound of metal scraping on metal behind her is extremely atmospheric. In another incident, Niamh is trapped in the basement of a library, and the author brilliantly describes Niamh's panic and desperation as she tries to escape. There were also questions posed that were never answered— like how did Marcus know about Frank’s death. The main character does she much investigating and questioning in her own head that doesn’t make sense if she was the killer. Then I thought it might be Marcus cause like… he seemed a bit shady, too good to be true (turns out he was just awesome). And he has the tiger balm, he was initially trying to get them to drop the investigation, ya know, stereotypical suspicious behaviour.
