Description

This item comes without PoE injectors and must be bought seperately if you are not using them with a PoE Switch. The UAP-IW-HD is powered by 802.3af PoE. If PoE passthrough is being utilised, 802.3at PoE is required.

The UniFi UAP-IW-HD access point can be conveniently powered by an 802.3af or 802.at compliant switch.

PoE+ input is required to use PoE passthrough. Connect this port to a UniFi Switch with PoE that is connected to your LAN and DHCP server. Ethernet port supports data and PoE passthrough (requires 802.3at PoE+ input). The maximum PoE passthrough output is 12W. When comparing the UAP-AC-Lite, UAP-AC-LR, and UAP-AC-Pro (all ac Wave 1) for example, in a clear environment the LR is usable at further distances, but in any congested environment that just means the AP will be able to receive more interference, making it less useful. Four ports are available for bridging – one of which offers PoE passthrough when the AP is powered by an 802.3at PoE+ switch.

UniFi Network - AP Antenna Radiation Patterns – Ubiquiti

MIMO access point with 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch for high-density environments. Fits into wall outlet. Use the configurable reporting and analytics to manage large user populations and expedite troubleshooting. Also theoretically they have different antenna configurations - the "LR" name for both Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 means a more sensitive reception circuit, and an antenna that is more optimized for out along the ceiling/wall, versus down/out from the APUse this table to compare the radiation patterns of each UAP. The first column shows where the respective colored dots found in each radiation plot is placed in the actual devices. Note that colored dots in the plots might be in the outer perimeter or closer to center. I would like for the AP to penetrate to the outdoors to support a Ring doorbell, so signal strength is important. From most of what I've read, the Pro seems like the strongest on paper. The Pro is stronger per Jardin's sheet which includes speeds and signal strengths for the Pro and the HD, but maybe the HD works better with lower signal strengths? The HD has Wave 2 support and MU-MIMO, which is theoretically better for multiple clients and higher speeds at 5GHz. Looking at the Ubiquiti radiation patterns, it looks like the Pro is the most powerful? The HD has more antennas per the datasheet. But it is hard to understand how much this all matters in a home environment. Build wireless networks as big or small as needed; start with one and expand to thousands while maintaining a single unified management system. Ubiquiti UniFi AP IW HD (In Wall) is an 802.11ac Wave2 MU-MIMO access point that is ideal for hospitality or multi-room deployments. The UAP-IW-HD provides 4x4 MIMO at 5GHz and 2x2 MIMO at 2.4GHz for a combined PHY rate of 2033Mbps.

Radiation patterns can be used to better understand how each UniFi access point model broadcasts wireless signal. These patterns are what antenna engineers call reciprocal—in that the transmit-power (the capability of the AP to ‘speak’) will be highest at the peaks, and so will the receive-sensitivity (the capability of the AP to ‘hear’). Note: Varying scales are represented in the graphs below. Consider each graph individually and take note of scale when comparing products. The quoted wireless specification is given as the maximum radio performance. Achievable range and throughput will vary depending on the regional regulations where the radio is deployed. These three 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports support data only. Used to connect client devices to the LAN. Approximate maximum EIRPs for each AP. Actual Transmit power and gain may be lower depending on your channel width, frequency, and specific hardware details. To get your AP's exact Tx power level run iwconfig in an ssh session. Gain values are relative to a theoretical perfect omnidirectional antenna, and are subject to the radiation patterns of the antennas in the device.US 6Ghz Low Power Indoor (LPI) operation is subject to power limits based on channel width - EIRP limits by channel width: 20Mhz 18dBM, 40Mhz 21dBm, 80Mhz 24dBm, 160Mhz 27dBm, 320Mhz 30dBm. Use this article to compare the different antenna radiation patterns of our UniFi Access Points. About Radiation Patterns US DFS Channels will result in lower maximum power settings on APs that can exceed the EIRP limit for DFS. The only thing odd to me so far is UniFi shows wired clients connected to my main switch (US-16-150W) instead of UAP-IW-HD. I have a printer and a NAS box plugged into the UAP-IW-HD. UniFi shows them connected to the main switch's port feeding the UAP-IW-HD. While technically correct, it would prefer it show then connected to the UAP-IW-HD. IMPORTANT: The UAP-IW-HD requires a UniFi Switch with PoE for power. Passive PoE adapters are not recommended.

Superior Processing Power The UniFi IW HD AP is capable of complex operations (guest control, filtering, and other resource-intensive tasks) that may slowdown a lesser-equipped AP. Please note that these radiation patterns are gathered in a fully anechoic environment. Their shape, peak gain/directivity and efficiency will change in installed environments. Every deployment will behave differently due to interference, materials, geometries of structures, and how these materials behave at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Easy customisation and options for Guest Portals include authentication, Hotspot setup, and the ability to use your own external portal server. An electrical wall box should be pre-installed with an Ethernet cable running from the box to a UniFi Switch with PoE. Regional regulations must be observed when deploying radio equipment.
