This book is not a once off! It is a trilogy and I would urge you to buy them all together because they are very difficult to put down! I know the other two books discuss more about ocean pollution, and other such issues, which I cannot wait to read about and see what Torday has to see! Explore a prehistoric wilderness where you’re squarely in the center of the food chain. Keep your head down, stay alert, and evade. If all else fails run, or try to intimidate using non-lethal weaponry, resulting in intense cat and mouse-style gameplay. EXPLORE

The extirpation of the wolves, which once existed in every part of these islands, is an oft-told story. The month which we now call January our Saxon ancestors called wolf-monat, to wit, wolf-month, because people are wont always in that month to be in more danger to be devoured of wolves, than in any else season of the year; for that, through the extremity of cold and snow, these ravenous creatures could not find of other beasts sufficient to feed upon. I borrowed The Last Wild as a talking book from a local library. My kids love animals and talking books, so I hoped it would suit them. They, and I, were not so sure to start with, and after the first chapter they did not want to go on with it. They don't generally like dark themes, and Kester's life is pretty miserable to begin with. I thought this book was brilliant! Its an amazing story which at points is quite funny. It was one of those books I could not put down and one of those books that I would be very happy reading again. And probably will.I was born in Northumberland, which is possibly the one part of England where more animals live than people, and spent my early years crawling around on the floor of the popular children’s bookshop that my mother ran. Thank you for your kind words. I hope that your class enjoy this book, mine certainly did. Hide replies

Discover abandoned facilities nestled in a lush wilderness teeming with prehistoric life. Scavenge and acquire useful items to improve your chances of survival, but become subject to ever-increasing dangers the deeper you explore. Unravel the mystery at the heart of the island. And when it is written with such wild imagination and vivid skill as Torday's 'The Last Wild', the knowledge that this story is not ended and that there is more to come is both a wonderful and awful thing to deal with as a selfish reader. Nay: Pacing is pretty fast. Some will like it. Kids will like it for sure but I kind of dislike it. It seems the development of some minor characters suffers. Did you know you can flag iffy content? Get started CloseI thought that this book was very good and interesting and it was one of my favourites . i would recomend this to any one who likes a book that they can not put down I've been a bit quiet recently because 6 weeks ago I gave birth to a lovely baby girl called Wren. Throughout my pregnancy and early weeks of being a new mum I was very distracted and found it much harder to find the time to read. This is a particular shame as obviously I adore reading. Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments Do not miss this magical and astounding debut: The Last Wild by Piers Torday (yes mums and dads, his Dad Paul wrote Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) - a wonderfully imaginative tale of magical self-realisation and endless possibility. A truly inspirational book for kids that they'll love. It also introduces a bold new voice in children’s fiction with a story destined to be loved by readers of all ages. Perfect too, for children who love Michael Morpurgo, Eva Ibbotson and Roald Dahl. I was driving through the trees in the direction of Stafford when I saw something dark moving amongst the bushes on the right hand side of the car. […] It was definitely not a cat, it had more of a dog’s characteristics. It had a long nose and sharp, pointy ears.”

I am reading the last wild. This book is awesome and very interesting.its about a boy who can talk to animals. In all, this is an incredibly educational and thrilling book. Not only does it have the power to have an impact upon our’s and our children’s minds but it also is an enthralling read. It should be a staple in the classroom and on your bookshelves! This book is great, it contains a great adventure and has an awesome thrill.
