Description

When moving on to actual viewing material, the C745 continued to impress, rendering the fine detail in native 4K content with commendable skill. The tone mapping was also impressive with HDR10, and even better when dealing with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Since all streamers use one of these formats (mainly the latter), as do a lot of 4K Blu-rays, this TV has you covered. This remains the case with the 65C815K, which, despite being a high-end model by TCL Europe standards, doesn’t get the full array with local dimming design that’s been so important to TCL’s success elsewhere. However, this doesn’t mean the 65C815K can’t further TCL’s European cause. TCL 65C815K price and availability Second, bass can be lighter in its contribution to the overall soundstage than the large size of the rear bass driver had me hoping for, and can also cause a little chassis buzzing under extended bass pressure.

The 55C735K continues to go far beyond its price point by supporting all four of the main high dynamic range formats of HDR, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. So unlike, say, all of LG’s TVs, which don’t support HDR10+, and all of Samsung TVs, which don’t support Dolby Vision, the TCL 55C735K will play the best version available of whatever source you feed it. Dolby Vision improves on this with its Bright mode (the Dark version is quite dim). On Skyfall (4K Dolby Vision), colours are expressive, detail levels are great, and the TV digs up the fine detail in close ups of Craig’s hair and scars. There are some gaming centric options in this set such as an FPS counter (which wasn’t always accurate), and also different game modes such as a boost mode which enhances your gameplay extensively by reducing lag and increasing performance. There is also an aptly titled Game Master Mode where you use the VRR feature to receive the best on-screen visuals without any tearing or ghosting and the best performance overall. Besides this there is also an auto low latency mode which reduces the chances of lagging or delays which makes an incredible difference for fast paced gameplay. TCL also offers an assist option which gives you a customizable crosshair in the middle of your screen, but I rarely found myself using it to be honest. The 65C845K sees TCL finally bringing to Europe the combination of aggressive pricing and unexpectedly excellent performance that has made the brand so successful in the US. In fact, the 65C845K is so good for its money that it pretty much redefines the whole TV market in a single blaze of ultra-bright glory. The courier will provide you with a 2-hour timeslot and some may call you 30-60 minutes before delivery. The TCL S522W should offer a cheaper and more accessible option to its Ray-Danz-powered C935U soundbar. The TCL C735 is a good all-round workhorse TV designed to be used in normal lighting conditions and offers a good selection of connectivity, gaming features, HDR compatibility and smart TV. Used in this manner it comes recommended and has been scored with the market position and cost in mind vs. performance. Again, brightness alone doesn’t guarantee picture quality. In conjunction, though, with the C845K’s high dimming zone count and the fact that it uses Quantum Dots to deliver high-volume colours capable of capitalising on all that claimed brightness (TCL claims coverage of 97 per cent of the digital cinema DCI-P3 spectrum), we can’t help but at least hope that the 65C845K is going to do something pretty groundbreaking for its price point.

There are a couple of niggles. Vocals sometimes sound a little detached from the action, thanks to a combination of occasional slight lip-sync lag when watching Dolby Atmos sources, and the way relatively deep vocal tones can seem to be coming from below the image. At this price, sound quality is often flat and uninspiring – but TCL’s down-firing full-range speakers sound pretty good. Perhaps we should conclude that while the TCL is a stellar TV, the rating is based on price and while the Sony and Hisense cost more, they are in fact better TVs. With advanced Hands-Free voice control combined to Google Assistant, TCL's Android TV makes life smart and simple.Upscaling of HD sources is a touch disappointing given the promises of ‘Deep Learning’ intervention, leaving things looking a little soft and undetailed versus the sort of results we are now accustomed to getting from the likes of Samsung, LG and Sony. The C845K’s upscaling at least doesn’t look noisy or ‘rough’, though, so we would say it remains good enough for such an affordable TV capable of such heroics with native 4K. Running in its brightest, most dynamic mode, colours in bright HDR10 scenes can look distractingly gaudy and unnatural

Particularly welcome is how well the sound swells forward and out from the built-in soundbar. This provides far more impact and detail than the more ‘swallowed’ effect you typically get with TVs that house all their speakers behind their screens. The C845K’s so-called Game Master Pro 2.0 system provides VRR support too, in the AMD FreeSync and ‘basic’ HDMI flavours, as well as ALLM switching so the TV will always turn to its fast-response Game mode when a game source is detected. The TCL C715 gets Android TV with Freeview Play integration, which takes care of the UK catch-up apps. You get the usual coterie of streaming apps: Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Rakuten TV and Disney+; but there’s no Apple TV or Now TV. The former will likely appear once the C715K receives the Google TV update, but there’s no timescale for that yet. UHD QLED display produces 4x the resolution of Full HD, delivering stunning image clarity and vibrant colours The TCL C745 sits towards the top of the brand’s 4K HDR lineup, offering most of the benefits associated with a modern smart TV, while also keeping gamers happy by including all the bells and whistles needed to get the most out of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The subwoofer, meanwhile, eagerly underpins everything with far deeper bass than you get with most TVs, while only occasionally breaking down into mild distortions with the most extreme movie bass lines.

This TV is 144hz VRR native: the highest standard in the TV industry and perfect for e-sport games and FPS.: smoother and seamless gameplay without any tearing. AMD Freesync premium for serious gamers with a fluid, tear-free gameplay experience at peak performance. TCL Game bar: never leave your game, see all gaming options and customize your experience. In fact, the 55C735K even supports the Dolby Vision IQ system, where the advanced Dolby Vision picture settings can automatically adjust themselves to compensate for the amount of ambient light in your room so that you still get the right level of HDR impact. There’s no true local dimming in the edge LED lighting system, despite the set carrying a Micro Dimming feature. This feature actually refers to the way the TV’s processor breaks down images into small areas so that it can more accurately determine how best to render the finished image. All in all, the gameplay was smooth, the visuals were fantastic, and it made games that were already great visually look even more beautiful. ConclusionAlthough no pricing or specific dates were given during the presentation (or subsequent press releases), all of these products will be available in the UK “by the second half of 2022” – and there’s more to come as well, with a new "higher-end" soundbar among those teased for a September unveiling at IFA, to further add to TCL’s 2022 line-up. As for now, let us know what catches your eye and if you might now be more (or less!) likely to help push TCL towards its goal of that illustrious number one spot in the Mini LED market.
