Description

The Hyper rounds are both the best and worst thing about this series. The size of the rounds allows for more capacity, but they have too much traction, which causes clogging issues. Because there's a lot to choose from, we've rounded up our favorite Nerf blasters here. They'll suit any age (be it young kids or tournament-playing pros) or budget, and crucially, there's no use-by date on them either. Unlike the best water guns, the best Nerf guns can be played with indoors or outdoors no matter the time of year. Like the rest of the line, the Mach-100 features a fine paintjob, combining a 90s vibe with carbon fiber-style molding. The main handle is quite comfortable; the body of the handle is slightly below that of the Perses, but is paired with responsive triggers that feel great to use. The front grip/battery tray is a natural place to put your offhand, and helps with bearing the weight of the batteries. Want maximum flexibility to go with value for money? This option is perfect for hot summer days outside. Bringing together Nerf and its Hasbro-owned sibling, the Super Soaker, this option shoots water from a 40floz tank while also firing Nerf darts from a barrel at the top. It's the best of both worlds.

While other blasters feature battery-powered mechanisms, this takes things to the next level. As well as rounds that fire at 110 feet per second, it provides enormous, easy-reload ammo hoppers to help you stay in the game for longer. Tactical rails leave you space to store extra rounds, too. Kits that contain LiPo batteries can only ship within the USA and have longer delivery times due ground transit. In spite of its unusual loading mechanism, the Cheetah is a devastating blaster that can fire darts at a velocity of 200 feet per second. It has a pistol handle, a tactical rail on top, and a magazine that holds 15 small darts. It holds 20 Hyper rounds in its top-loading hopper, which are included so you can fill it up all the way. The Nemesis shoots soft foam balls called High-Impact Rounds, and with its inboard hopper, it’s rated to carry 100 balls—however you can easily fit up to 130.We can, and I will complain about that, but it still has one of the highest ammo capacities of any Nerf shotgun. With the Pro MK-3, you get two types of darts—long darts for semi-auto precision and short darts for full-auto spray and pray! Both the short and long darts come with their own magazine. At this time, we believe a 3s LiPo may ultimately destroy your motors. MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK! A 2s LiPo will last a long time and should be very reliable.

Overall, I feel think you can have a good amount of fun with a Hyper blaster and think Nerf fans should give one a try. I feel Hasbro and Nerf will figure the ammo situation out and eventually put a blaster out that is more consistent. The Rush holds 40 Hyper balls but only comes with 30, which is just a shame. You want to get some extra ammo anyways, as the hyper balls are small and can be hard to find. It’s an assault rifle blaster that includes a select-fire toggle—allowing you to swap between full-auto and semi-auto. In full auto, the Pro Mk-3 spews darts at 4 darts per second and with the right darts can reach speeds of 140 FPS. This smooth-firing shotgun is the only gun in the series that features slam-fire, which allows to increase the fire rate by holding the trigger while pumping. The most powerful Nerf gun is the Caliburn by Captain Slug and is capable of firing darts at the insane velocity of over 250 feet per second! The Caliburn is pump-action, spring-powered, magazine-fed, and can fire a variety of different types of darts, including Nerf Elite Darts. Because these blasters are custom printed, you can select from a variety of colors as well as differing spring strengths which will affect the power of the blaster—the K26 being the most powerful spring. The Mach-100, in my testing, averaged 108fps, just shy of the advertised 110fps. However, this was on single shots; fully automatic fire bogs down the flywheel motors quite a bit. Rate of fire, meanwhile, averaged between 3 and 4 balls per second, depending on how well the ammo feeds. You get inconsistent spurts of heavy fire, followed by gaps.

This pistol-like, spring-loaded blaster carries almost as much of a frightening punch as the more expensive and iconic Calaburn (the top gun on this list) but is far easier on the wallet. The power output of a spring-loaded Nerf blaster is determined by the strength of the spring. Most Nerf-brand blasters use rather weak springs which you upgrade yourself to increase power. However, some blasters—such as our top choice for the most powerful blaster, the Caliburn—are prebuilt using insanely resistant springs. It feeds rounds very smoothly and utilizes a mechanical agitator to help break up any clumps and keep the rounds flowing, however just like all hopper-fed blasters, you’ll still need to occasionally shake it while firing. Unlike the Siege, the Evolve doesn’t have slam-fire, which is one of the reasons it is further down this list. It has a 15 dart capacity and is compatible with any N-Strike magazines so you can easily drop a 30 drum in this bad boy!The insides are what you’d expect, with large motors and flywheels, and an agitator system like you’d see in the Nemesis (but for Hyper). Additional features include plain iron style sight up top, and a trigger safety on the left side. Performance Nerf guns are typically made for children and young adults, and as such, they are relatively weak and rather unintimidating. However, that decision didn’t come lightly, and there are a ton of other amazing foam-slinging blasters on the market that might fit your playstyle better.

TO AVOID EYE INJURY:WARNING: Do not aim at eyes or face. Use of eyewear required for players and people within range. Use only official Hyper rounds. Other rounds may not be safe. Do not modify rounds or blaster. Ages 14 and up. Why this D&D actual play series featuring the voices of Geralt and FF16's Clive is going to be the next big thingThe pump prime addition to the series is the Hyper Fuel-20, which is the smallest gun of the line so far. At the rear of the blaster, you will find a priming indicator that will show yellow when it’s primed. In the same area, there is an unjamming button that will help you clear the occasional pesky jam. Something really cool about this gun is that with the flip of a switch you can toggle between full-automatic and semi-automatic. As a pump-action blaster, the Siege also includes slam-fire blasting, which means that as long as you’re holding down the trigger, each pump of the priming mechanism (located at the bottom of the blaster) will fire a shot your opponents way. As a result the Siege can fire as fast as you pump it – you are going to develop some serious muscles if you use the Siege for an extended period of time ; ).
