According to studies based out of Cornell University, there are wild and American lingonberries, along with the European lingonberry. The American or wild lingonberry plant typically produces one crop per year in the summer, while the European version produces two and ranges from two to 16 inches in height with branches three to four inches long. As with many berries, lingonberries contain high levels of fiber that act as prebiotics, feeding beneficial bacteria found naturally throughout the digestive tract. Interventions: 50 ml of cranberry-lingonberry juice concentrate daily for six months or 100 ml of lactobacillus drink five days a week for one year, or no intervention.
