Description

The KZ ES4 features 4 drivers in total, distributed in 2 per earpiece. The dual driver setup includes 1 balanced armature and one 10 mm dynamic driver, each driver will independently be responsible of reproducing different audio frequencies – the dynamic driver will take care of the lower end while the balanced armature will resolve mid and upper frequencies. Like the ZS10 before it, the AS10 does not offer a high level of passive isolation from external noise, providing just a bit of reduction in volume and not much more. Using foam tips helps reduce noise a bit, but they can’t replace the isolation that the shells do not offer.

KZ ZS10: the ZS10 are much more detailed than the ES4 in every part of the spectrum, also featuring much better instrument separation. Alas they also have a terrible spike in the upper mids/lower highs that makes the sound fatiguing and even piercing at times. The sound signature is also not as balanced and results in an unnatural sound. The ES4 are therefore the better option when it comes to tuning. The KZ ES4 belongs to the newest generation of KZ in-ear monitors and shares some design similarities with the KZ ZS10 , like the transparent housings and the characteristic divider board with the KZ logo which can be found inside the rear section of the housings.TRN V80: the V80 are V-shaped and very much so, so it is no wonder that they end up having more emphasised bass and much more prominent treble. In terms of quality, then, there are a few differences: the V80 have deeper bass, but not as much control; midrange is more balanced and frankly enjoyable on the AS10; treble is more spacious and airy on the V80, but it is also much more easy on the ears on the AS10. In terms of soundstage the two are similar, but in terms of instrument separation and imaging the AS10 win by a slight margin. Knowledge Zenith's, the company which is notorious for making so many models, sometimes confusing, sometimes irritating(ZST and ES3 choice) has a good history of producing gems at lower price.

KZ ES4 - Review | ThePhonograph.net

The ES4 is made out of a hard plastic shell and comes with a removable cable. These earphones feel pretty solid, but with such a hollow and large casing I would be afraid to step on them. Comfort is rather good, I especially like the ergonomic shape and the lighter weight of the plastic casing compared to metal earphones that often fall out.

Make it Shine

Females vocals can get sibilant(yes they can, CardiB went sibilant on Dinero by JLo). They are too sharp, sharper than ZST. But the best part is that you can hear breathe of singers. Comfort is indeed good and better than I expected; considering the similarities with the ZS10, I thought it would be decent but not that great for long listening sessions. Truth is, I used them all day long for multiple days and only got some fatigue at the end of the day. The AS10 is therefore an IEM you can rely on when it comes to comfort. As subjective as comfort is, I think the KZ AS10 is much more universal than other headphones as it is small and light – so take my thoughts with a pinch of salt, as usual, but also consider the fact that they’re really one of the best IEMs by KZ in terms of comfort. KZ ZS10: the midrange on the ZS10 is much more recessed and much less balanced; treble, too, is way less present and detailed. It almost feels dull in comparison to the AS10. The only point in common is bass, which is however not as emphasised on the new model. In terms of technical ability, the AS10 win in terms of detail, but the ZS10 are better on the soundstage front. The rest is a tie. This new shape is much more typical of higher-end IEMs – though it’s of course not the shape that indicates the positioning of the headphones (as Campfire Audio, among others, taught us). What’s positive about this design choice is that the KZ ZSN are really comfortable, as their shape is kind of neutral to the ears. There are no sharp edges or other similarly polarising features, so it’s easy to find the right position that is comfortable. The relatively small size also helps with this – my girlfriend, whose ears are much smaller than mine, had no trouble in wearing the ZSN and finding the right fit.

KZ ES4 Impressions! : r/headphones - Reddit KZ ES4 Impressions! : r/headphones - Reddit

Tries to get into upper bass register and bleed towards mid, but is now in control due to tenmak tips. It is to punchy and is distinct(I don't like that much punch) but is still maintaining a fundamental tone, so I can tolerate. But on slow, classical or orchestral songs this mid bass is very good. It defines the weight of instruments. An EQ adds a jaw dropping amount of brightness and become noticeably more detailed. Piercing highs can also be efficiently eq’ed to reduce their strength. Higher volume just become taxing to drivers and so are metals. The song is with so much info that driver tends to distort enharmonically.

Qualcomm CSR8645 is renowned for its excellent connection stability, low power connection technology, and high-quality audio transmission. So DankPods has mentioned both models in his Xmas and Raycon 2: The Rayconning videos. But as someone looking to buy a pair; The ES4 sounds like a downgraded ZS10 in terms of technicalities; instrument separation is good but not exceptional and it can’t withstand complex situations without muffling things up a bit, while soundstage has limited width and imaging can only give you a hint of the instrument’s position.
