Description

Herron writes squeakingly well-plotted spy thrillers . . . He’s a world-bringer, the creator of a still-growing fictional universe with its own gravity, lingo, and surface tension.”

Incidentally, the song "Who Am I" was written by McDonald for a play called Change Over, written by Fred Hayden. Each of the three verses was to be considered as sung by a different character. If you haven't yet immersed yourself in the world of Slough House, the arena for Herron's jaded and thoroughly imperfect spies, you've a treat in store . . . Combining espionage, ennui and deadpan humour, they set a new bar for spy fiction * FT, Books of the Year * The Jewish Standard". Jstandard.com. August 14, 2009.
