Our founder Philip met the chaps during the spring/summer of 2020, during their weekly broadcasts. Their breadth of knowledge and approachable pallets across multiplespirits isrefreshing. It was a rigorous and detailed process which showed us how we can do more to live up to the B Corp commitment. By shining a light on how we work, it confirmed what we already knew – we’re far from perfect! At Hattiers we source and blend the world’s finest rums to produce a final product that is accessible to all. We are proud to be an honest and bold challenger brand, removing the historic smoke and mirrors of the rum world and championing real unadulterated rum while operating sustainably, placing purpose before profit as the UK’s first B Corp Rum brand, and only the 2nd in the world.Becoming a B Corp is far from straightforward and Philip and the team had to undertake a rigorous and detailed B Impact Assessment (BIA), a comprehensive questionnaire that determines the company’s impact on their community, employees, the environment and beyond. Philip has also been named as a judge for the ‘Rum and Flavoured Rum’ category in this year’s Great British Food Awards. The reigning champion with their Eminence Blended Aged White Rum, Egremont and Resolute were also both finalists in the 2021 competition. Philip will be judging alongside fellow esteemed food and drink judges including Mitch Tonks and Charlie Stein.
