Description

The Suspect is a British police procedural television series in five episodes based on Michael Robotham's 2004 novel The Suspect. Screenwritten by Peter Berry and produced by Natasha Romaniuk, the first episode aired on ITV on Monday 29 August 2022. [2] In episode 5’s closing stages, fans were left with hearts racing as they saw Joe tied to a chair in his house, which had been rigged to explode and cannot be deactivated. Alongside him were DJ and Bobby, whilst Joe’s wife Julianne and their young daughter Charlie watched in terror and armed police assembled outside.

Thus, when the police find the body of a woman in a graveyard who they think may have been a sex worker, they call him in to lend his expertise. Veteran officer DI Vince Ruiz (Shaun Parkes) and up-and-comer DS Riya Devi (Anjli Mohindra) believe that she was forced to stab herself shallowly 20 times before a fatal 21st blow was administered either by her or by the killer. Anyway, the first sign that the good doctor may not be all he seems is that he does not immediately tell them that he has a very disturbed patient under his care – Bobby (played by Bobby Schofield). Bobby has an obsession with the number 21 and is awaiting sentencing for violently assaulting a woman after she jumped a cab-rank queue.

The Suspect star Aidan Turner revealed more on where the drama was shot filmed... “We filmed all over London including around the Coal Drops Yard area in King’s Cross, which has completely changed in recent years. It’s a cool place. It’s rare these days to get a show completely set in the city. I don’t think I’ve ever shot anything that is completely based in London. That felt good. And London is an important character in The Suspect. Our cinematographer Matt Gray has made the city look incredible.” Is there a trailer? Joining Aidan Turner are Shaun Parkes ( Small Axe), Sian Clifford ( Fleabag), Camilla Beeput ( Peep Show), Adam James ( Vigil), and Anjli Mohindra ( Bodyguard).

There are currently nine Joe O’Loughlin books published, with The Suspect ending only taking the psychologist’s story up to the end of the first book of the same name. The second book in the series is titled Lost and sees DI Ruiz become the focus of the plot after he is suspected of a horrific crime when he’s found covered in blood in the Thames. This would certainly make for a spellbinding mystery to follow in The Suspect season 1’s footsteps and would retain Joe as the main character anchoring the plot from season 1 to a potential season 2. I truly did not expect the ending of The Suspect," says Anjli Mohindra, who plays investigator DS Riya Devi. "I have always written myself and I’m in development on a piece at the moment. The more you write, the more you spot the little formulas that often occur. I give myself three guesses at the beginning of a thriller. And I was completely wrong when it came to The Suspect." His picturesque life with beautiful wife Julianne and daughter Charlie, as well as a successful career was all but kaput by the time the final episode rolled around… but finally, he was able to get some of the answers he craved. The Jigsaw x Roksanda collection has launched and it looks like it has stepped straight off the catwalkEver since the ITV drama first landed many fans were likely left wondering how many episodes of The Suspect remained until the truth was revealed. All season long, police had been growing increasingly more suspicious of clinical psychologist Joe O’Loughlin, played by Poldark star Adrian Turner, after one of his patients was discovered murdered. From there the intensity built steadily as Joe maintained his innocence and mounted his own investigation, leading to a harrowing finale that answered our questions in the most evocative way possible. When the police search McCain’s digs in Liverpool, the victim’s flatmate (who tells them he is the X-ray technician; she was a community nurse, which is the kind of detail well-trained thriller viewers will duly note) mentions that McCain was often depressed, but planning to move to London to be near the lover she would never tell him anything about. A serial liar with an angry streak, Bobby was taken in by police before eventually being let go as he had an alibi for the night of the murder.

DJ, in his defence, seemed far more dragged along in this revenge plan, though was the muscle behind the operation. On Bobby's instruction, he'd remained undetected, killing Catherine and framing Joe before going after Cara as well. That way Bobby consistently had an alibi and DJ was never even suspected. Singh, Anita (5 September 2022). "The Suspect, episode 2 review: ITV's mad thriller is now teetering on bad". The Telegraph. Telegraph Media Group Limited . Retrieved 7 September 2022.

Yes, The Suspect looks like it's going to be a gripping watch! In it, we see Aidan Turner's character in his work and home life, as he slowly starts to delve deeper and deeper into what's happened as he gets involved in Catherine's case.
