Description

The Sennheiser GSP 670 is the result of years of development and is not only our first wireless headset, but also the best wireless headset for gamers to date. It combines all the strengths for which Sennheiser is well-known all over the world: maximum wearing comfort, audio performance of the highest level, and clever features that you couldn't do without," says Andreas Jessen, Director of Product Management Gaming at Sennheiser Communications A/S. When it comes to sound quality, you’ll struggle to find a more balanced wireless gaming headset than the Sennheiser GSP 670.

Sennheiser gaming headsets in 2023 The best EPOS Sennheiser gaming headsets in 2023

Thanks to Sennheiser’s unparalleled record when it comes to aural engineering, the headset is a dream to use in audio-rich games. First-person shooters and survival horror games highlight the GSP 370’s 20-20,000Hz frequency range the best, but the headset makes pretty much any PS4, PS5, or PC game shine out of the box. The new Sennheiser GSP 670 uses a self-developed low-latency connection and features Sennheiser’s renowned wearing comfort and premium audio performance. The timbres are perfectly respected and defined, we benefit from a very good effect of presence and a sharp sound, without it being aggressive. The bottom edge of the left earcup holds the micro USB port for charging, along with a status LED and a Bluetooth pairing slider. A chat volume dial can be found on the bottom edge of the right earcup, along with a programmable smart button that switches between equalizer presets by default. Even if Sennheiser is not at its first gaming headset, it is the initial wireless reference of the manufacturer which has just renamed its EPOS gaming branch. This headset arrives on a mature market made up of many references and driven by particularly tough competition.

The GSP 670 uses the recipes of the GSP series headphones with a sound philosophy that is reminiscent of Sennheiser Hi-Fi headphones. The first part of the audible spectrum is particularly balanced here, even if this reference is intended to be a bit more flattering in the extreme bass than its cousins. The seat is solid, the bass is deep and very well defined. They are perfectly in their place and never mask the upper registers. The GSP 670 did not hold any surprises for us in terms of comfort. The sensations provided are in fact similar to those of the GSP 600. The headset is easy to handle and easily finds its place on the head, despite its size. Its wide and soft ear cups encompass the pavilions well and the pressure points are correctly distributed.

Sennheiser GSP 600 vs Sennheiser GSP 670 - Versus Sennheiser GSP 600 vs Sennheiser GSP 670 - Versus

After the excellent headsets GSP 600 and GSP 500, we reviewed the flagship of Sennheiser’s gaming headsets : the GSP 670. Will the brand’s first wireless model reshuffle the cards and dethrone the best? The headset comes with the aforementioned USB dongle and a charging cable, but that's it. No case or stand is included. Like the GSP 370, the GSP 670 has no place to store the tiny dongle when it's not in use. MicrophoneThe wide headband on the Sennheiser GSP 370 means comfort for even the biggest heads out there (Image credit: Future) The headband is relatively flexible and supports twists well, while the plastic used seems relatively dense. The brand has made the effort to choose rather light materials; nevertheless the size of the headset makes it quite heavy (400 g).

The 7.1 surround sound doesn’t match the Audeze Mobius for pure immersion, but it works well enough and gives audio a clear sense of direction. I could definitely identify where gunfire was coming from when playing Destiny 2 and other online shooters The sound profile of the Sennheiser GSP 670 shares a lot in common with that of the GSP 600, its wired cousin from the same manufacturer. This gaming headset delivers an equally natural and immersive rendering. In terms of comfort, the GSP 670 features plush earpads and an adjustable headband, ensuring a comfortable fit for long gaming sessions. The headset also has intuitive controls, allowing users to adjust the volume and other settings easily. The battery life of the GSP 670 provides up to 20 hours of playtime, ensuring extended use without the need for frequent recharging. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. Even if we expected a more careful finish (you can easily spot many assembly marks), especially for a headset in this price range, the whole thing seems very robust. No parts creak or squeak after more than a month of daily use.

The GSP 670 does not include any analog wired input. It will therefore be necessary to be satisfied with the wireless or wired connection via USB. What’s more, the manufacturer has decided to keep the good old micro-USB connector rather than USB-C.

Sennheiser GSP 670 Review | Trusted Reviews

The GSP 670 also comes with an advanced, solid metal hinge system, adapting the headset to any head shape and guaranteeing a perfect fit. I’ve been PCMag’s home entertainment expert for over 10 years, covering both TVs and everything you might want to connect to them. I’ve reviewed more than a thousand different consumer electronics products including headphones, speakers, TVs, and every major game system and VR headset of the last decade. I’m an ISF-certified TV calibrator and a THX-certified home theater professional, and I’m here to help you understand 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and even 8K (and to reassure you that you don’t need to worry about 8K at all for at least a few more years). The Sennheiser GSP 670 is the brand’s latest swing at creating the Holy Grail of gaming headsets: a wireless set with audiophile-level sound quality. If you are a gamer that really cares about audio quality and doesn’t want the hassle of a wired connection then the Sennheiser GSP 670 could well be the gaming headset for you. It offers wonderfully balanced audio and has one of the best mics I’ve ever tested on a gaming headset. The sound is very different too what you’ll find on most gaming headsets. This may put off some regular, non-audio conscious buyers as the most noticeable difference is how controlled the low end is. Unlike competing sets, such as the Arctis Pro which push the low end to the point it can wonder intrude on other parts of the sound, the Sennheiser GSP 670 keep it under permanent control. This gives it a far precise sound than most headsets, but can initially feel like it’s less powerful to an untrained ear. One being Asus and its ROG / Strix line which tend to have garishly over the top angular designs full of RGB lighting that make them look more like a prop from a Predator movie than a pair of headphones. The other being SteelSeries, which tends to make wonderfully discrete headsets that look a lot like regular headphones. The mic is another stand out feature and one of the biggest differentiators between the GSP 670 and Arctis Pro. The Arctis Pro sounds great, but like most SteelSeries headsets its mic was a little weak, and had a tendency to distort. The GSP 670’s noise cancelling mic is blissfully clear by comparison, and one of the best I’ve tested on a gaming headset. Even during heated, loud, online matches my team reported being able to hear me loud and clear, making it a great option for competitive gamers. Like its wired companions, the GSP 670 has an atypical and imposing design. The headset is made mostly of plastic parts, except for the metal hinges that connect the ear cups to the headband.
