Description

Ever heard of Simon Says? This game is exactly like that! But, your kids are actually learning to code too.

This is an absolutely brilliant game and he had no idea he was actually learning, which is always a bonus! I cannot recommend this highly enough it is fabulous. Grab your Osmo game here. The red connection on the base is a clever mirror that sits on top of your IPad so it can read the coding you have done. The arrows can also change direction just by gently turning them in the direction you would like them to go. With cars being able to drive themselves already. Plus kids have so many toys orientated toward electronic gaming, that it is almost impossible to avoid it. The best coding games for kids are those that blend learning and fun! In this delicious learning game, you are the robot and your child is the programmer. They would need to design algorithms and provide you with the steps to make an easy meal! Remember, one wrong instruction and they need to debug the entire process!Overall, we’re enjoying the Osmo and I like that we’ve been able to build it into our homeschool routine. And we haven’t personally tried this, but they now even have full learning kits by grade level. If we end up trying one of these out, I’ll make sure I update this post with our review. Osmo teaches logic skills and problem-solving. It also helps kids succeed in an increasingly digital world.

The Osmo Coding Starter Kit is the first coding toy we have owned and honestly, I wasn’t really sure what my son would think. He is 10 years old and loves video games. If he had it his way, he would spend endless hours playing Roblox and Fortnite— but a coding kit? I was a little skeptical that it would be able to hold his attention. But even with my uncertainty of how he would react, I was excited for him to give it a try because I know learning the basics of coding is very useful for children in today’s world — especially those who are drawn to electronics and may one day be able to make a career out of their passion. Some examples of daily routines include getting ready for school, or building a bedtime routine.• Cooking & Coding – A Delicious Way to Learn

The above picture for example is telling Awbie to move up 2 spaces to get to the chest. It only took a couple of goes for my son to understand what needed to be done. This was a super fun game that all three of my boys loved. It involved not just learning adding in different ways, but also planning ahead to create combos. It’s another game that progresses well with levels. Teaching kids to code in 2023 is so important and is now part of the school curriculum. If you are looking for coding for homeschoolers Osmo is fantastic for this for younger students. The kid’s coding language used is Awbie. Where you can jump, walk, repeat, hand, and play so it is a super easy starting position.

Update: Osmo now has a dedicated reading adventure game! We haven’t bought this one yet, so I can’t speak to the quality, but it’s on one of my kids’ Christmas lists. I’ll give this an update when I have a verdict. The Osmo base can either fit an iPhone or an IPad by easily changing the base around. There are details showing how to do this.

Osmo’s Coding Awbie is another app+kit that uses the basic functions of coding to teach kids as young as 4 or 5 how to code. There are so many proven benefits of coding, and I feel like these benefits apply to any child. I highly recommend the Coding Awbie Game. While we loved some of the other Osmo apps, this was by far the favorite and makes the whole system a pretty powerful (and fun!) tool for kids. Before you begin playing this game, make sure to explain to your child about the basic steps for cooking the dish, along with the ingredients required to make it. I am always keeping an eye out for the latest and greatest coding games and best coding apps for kids. Some of you may remember the review I did a while ago on Osmo’s Coding Jam. Well, Osmo has other coding activities out there, like Osmo Coding Awbie, and it is just as wonderful and educational. What is Coding Awbie? Carry on reading for our Osmo kit review a brilliant coding game for kids. What is included in the Osmo Coding Kit

Ask your child to assign a “code” to each letter of the alphabet. It could be an image, a punctuation mark, a symbol, etc! Once they’ve created their own code, ask them to write a secret letter to someone in their code. Trust us, this can be a lot of fun!• Mouse & Cheese – Top Coding Games for Kids This was the game that the boys were the most excited about. And it did not disappoint! The game itself was super fun, and I loved how it made them think very logically about what they needed to do to move the monster around the map and perform actions. The difficulty progression was handled very well. Watch our strawbie-loving Awbie and friendly monster Mo work together to overcome brain-stretching challenges. The Word game involved a lot of guessing and it seemed so random what pictures and words they had. My son who is learning how to read was just confused and my older son who can read was easily bored by it.It is aimed at children aged between 5 and 12 years old, and can only be played on an Ipad or iPhone. Osmo’s Coding Awbie helps kiddos learn and reinforce so much more than just coding skills. They work on map-reading, collaborating, problem-solving, and even basics like counting and directions. Teaching kids how to code is so important and Osmo Coding with Awbie is a great introduction for kids. The drawing app was okay (one of my boys enjoyed playing it once). But I didn’t love that it just involved staring at the screen, and didn’t involve a ton of creativity. The apps we loved the most were the ones that required you to really engage with both the physical part of the game as well as the screen.
