But this story isn't told just from Bella's perspective. She just happens to be the person that I connected with the most; take from that what you will. Having read and really liked all of Lucy Clarke’s other books I was eagerly awaiting her next book, sadly One of the Girls did not deliver.

This was interesting and a nice touch. It could have been messy with so many characters, but the author made it flow nicely. It was quite a long journey for Clarke to get a publishing deal but she kept pushing on. The one thing that kept her inspired and motivated was that she had the beach hut and could work on the drizzly and cold days looking out at the sea. MY THOUGHTS: I have to say right off that the publicity blurb is just a little misleading. But I can't tell you how, because that would spoil it. But I will say that I didn't find the story particularly twisty, and it is more a psychological drama than thriller. Lucy's books are published in twenty territories. THE BLUE, is currently being filmed for a major international TV series for Paramount+ and will be on screens in 2023.

The story is told from alternating perspectives of each of the women, and that helped me keep them all straight and learning about their inner motivation, insecurities, desires, and plans. I was definitely surprised many times with the twists and turns the story took, and I grew to like or at least appreciate each of the women even though some of them took me a while to warm up to.

But then one of their newfound friends goes missing at sea following a heated argument with a member of the crew. Soon enough the dark secrets that had led them to the pleasure boat start to be brought to light.To start, the setting was perfect. When the book opens with the characters wondering if their resort is too remote, you know the author is setting up something good. I could just picture this beautiful Greek villa up on a cliff, and certainly want to vacation there myself!
