Perfect for: Big brothers and sisters who want to share something they love with the new kid in town. Later on, the family arrives to the library, and tell the librarian about the amount of books they read. Impressed at how many books they've read, the librarian makes them take a quiz to make sure they actually did read the books. The librarian takes a book, asks a question pertaining to a specific plot point, and the family answers the questions. The family manages to complete the quiz with flying colors, but when Lola is asked a question related to the princess book she reluctantly agreed to read, she gives off an incorrect answer, resulting in the entire family getting disqualified. Unhappy with their loss, Lincoln reminds them that the contest deadline is at 5:00, and it's only 3:00. He says that he'll use the next two hours to teach Lola how to read so they can get a second chance at the quiz. Accepting the offer, the family drives off, while Lincoln and Lola stay behind.

In the first photographed memory of Lola's love for pizza being shown, her tongue is colored the same as her skin. Lola said that it's too hard for her to read, But she has no problem reading Lincoln's coffee note that says "World's Best Dad!" in " Ties That Bind". This is another book I have strangely mixed feelings about. Stories like this need to be told, but I so disliked the way this was told. This is a really sweet little "new baby" book. Lola helps her family get ready for her new brother, Leo, and once he's born, she helps her parents by reading to him as they all go through their day. There are lots of simple images of diaper changing, feeding, sleeping, bath time, nap time, etc. I love to share the Lola stories during storytime. The books are so sweet. The beginning of this story was neat because McQuinn referenced library storytime.

The way the family was cheering about the contest is similar to how the siblings cheer for a school day from " Snow Bored." Lola and Daffy being hypocrites by claiming to each other, especially to Porky, that they're irresponsible for the former two's case, not having a driver's license, and the latter's case, having an expired driver's license, when the former two are actually both irresponsible for driving without driver's licenses. Before Daffy asks Bugs "What is the speed limit in a residential area?", he's the only person at the testing station. After Bugs refuses to help Daffy cheat, an old lady is seen taking the test who wasn't there before. I did this one on audio and the narrators were fabulous. One of my favorite performances of the year. ️ ️ ️ ️I was given this novel as a birthday present many years ago and I couldn’t remember if I had read it or not so I decided to give it a go. I had previously been a huge fan of Jacqueline Wilson novels in my younger years, and I can recall being very fond of her books so I wanted to see how this would compare also. She was born and raised in London, England and has lived in Nigeria and the United States. She currently works as a psychotherapist. She has written for, CNN, HuffPost, Essence and the BBC and also speaks on issues of mental health and racism. She has also appeared on national television, most recently discussing Covid 19 and mental wellbeing. Lola once gave a presentation on imposter syndrome – a subject close to her heart, because at times she’s unable to believe she’s an actual writer!

The fabric was thin and ridiculously soft, and I found myself petting it like it was a damn dog. That was weird, I knew, so I stopped before I stepped out of the closet.” I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and William Morrow and Company and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased. The way this story is told in such a raw yet accessible manner with two children, Lowra an orphan raised with privilege and Dikembe or Celestine as he is later known after his name was stolen from him, experiencing being trapped in an attic nearly a century apart but bound by the same secrets really captivates the reader. Beautiful, brilliant, outstanding, marvelous, phenomenal, fantastic, extraordinary.... I don't have enough adjectives to describe this book..... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Jacqueline Wilson is an author that I avidly read as a child. There was not a book of hers that I had not read. I keenly remember Lola Rose being my favourite at the time. I decided that as an adult I was going to restart my collection and reread each one to see how I felt as an adult. I distinctly remember Wilson discussing important topics in each of her books which is something that interests me even more now I am an adult. Red Letter Media - A book titled R.L. Media is seen on one of the library's bookshelves, a clear nod to this independent video and film production company. I’m nearly 64 and in school this sort of thing was taught in history class, yes, the slaves, the treatment that the White people used these humans for, despicable.
