This topic is discussed in the area of philosophy, known as the theory of knowledge or epistemology. Although the book raises the issue in regard to beliefs about food, the ideas can be applied to beliefs about anything. For example, we can taste something and decide that we don’t like a particular food. However, in other cases, we can simply read about something, like getting into a car crash, for example, and come to the conclusion that we do not want to ever be in a car crash. In this case, we did not need to experience the crash to decide that we don’t want it to happen to us. National Education Association (2007). "Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children" . Join in the fun with Sam-I-Am in this iconic classic by Dr. Seuss that will have readers of all ages craving Green Eggs and Ham!This is a beloved classic from the bestselling author of Horton Hears a Who!, The Lorax, and Oh, the Places You’ll Go!In 1960 Dr Seuss was challenged to write a book using only 50 words – and so Green Eggs and Ham, one of his best-loved stories, was born. In turns surreal and adorable, Seuss' bright and distinct illustrations follow our adventurers on their journey featuring a house with a mouse, a fox in a box, and a goat in a boat, and Sam-I-Am’s hapless friend’s expressions are a delight as he gets more and more wound up by Sam’s incessant questions. Children have been delighted by Dr Seuss’ simple rhyme schemes and hilarious illustrations for generations and his storybooks are still a total joy to read aloud today. of 5 stars to Green Eggs and Ham, a picture book written by Dr. Seuss in 1960. Another delightful children's book full of wonderful images and fantastic rhymes. These are amazing books to use as tools that engages young kids in reading at a very early age. The topic in this one... Sam-I-Am and all the places to eat green eggs and ham! On some levels, the things they eat and the places they go are not appropriate for kids, but it's meant as humor and fun... so I let those things go. Another book to read with a child... not hand off and hope (s)he figures it out. And Dr. Seuss has a world of characters children love and want to hear and see all the time. I'd definitely recommend this one as a starter book for your kids... even with some of the items to be careful over, when it comes to being funny versus truthful... and not giving off incorrect perceptions: Is it fair of Sam-I-Am to keep pestering the narrator to try green eggs and ham? Should he have left him alone after the first time the narrator said he does not like green eggs and ham?
