I have a DAC X7 (the model just after the X6) at home and measured it. There's a +30° phase shift between 1 kHz and 10 kHz. USB-tier manufacturersin Taiwanwith a stableperformanceVIAVT1630,highresolution,undera wide rangeoffrequencysupport44.1K-192k 24BIT16BITmodemode44.1K-96K,Android4.2.2systemcan supportOTGmode(neednative system),supportApplle Hmmm. Interesting question. Actually, I'd totally forgotten that those 'pre-outs' were there. (My desire was for some pre-ins, so I could try it as a standalone amp, to compare against the H10.) But now, I realise that I may be able do a dac comparison, instead. Do you guys have the same issues? Is it only me that the RCA outs increases the active speakers' volume a lot?

The Fostex did not and does not fare well on either dac amps. It is loud... BUT not loud enough. No oomph in the bass for example with both amps/dacs. The fostex does shine on my Yamaha home receiver. Front panel buttons are old fashioned toggle switches but they have a solid, reassuring feel. There is an on/off switch which I like and a button for selecting one of the three inputs. On the right side of the plot we have THD+N, dominated by distortion. In this case we have clear differences between channels but THD+N ratio would be -107 dB for left channel and -103 dB for right channel (again the ratio of signal level and THD+N level). Or 0.00045 % and 0.00071 %, respectively. I like decibels more." Hey, thanks for your input. I ended up followed what you said, plugging the speakers into the headphone out. That worked out quite well in the end. With the exception of the Fostex T50 MK3, the other headphones sounded good and loud enough. But with neutral bass oomph compared to the E10k.The FX Audio DAC-X6 comes in a basic brown box with the company brand on the front and “Mini Audio DAC. Your Music Dream!” When I got it, I was impressed by the sound. Thats why I made an own analysis to confirm or deny what you found out. My hypothesis was that there is some postfiltering after the DAC stage going on depending on the sample rate at which the device is used. The DAC X6 (high biased, opamp rolled) is a brilliant piece of budget hifi. I love it. The combo with the modded T50RP represents absolutely stunning value. Measured performance of the FX-Audio DAC-X6 is rather disappointing. It loses to similarly priced Fiio E10K and by a larger margin to Topping D30.

FX-Audio DAC-X6 MKII review – Is This A New Budget King?

Good to hear all of your opinions of the X6 here. For a newbie like me, it's certainly comforting to know that I'm hearing what others are hearing. On the other hand, its physical build is far better than the Fiio E10 and even Topping D30. And its headphone output which never gets distorted regardless of its dial position, is able to drive difficult headphones like the Sennheiser HD650. Also, when you do your listening tests, are you doing them before the measurements to minimize bias? That response is very poor in high frequencies, dropping from 5 Khz on by as much as 5 to 7 dB. We should see a rule flat output. So better pair this with rather bright headphones to compensate.I then switched to headphone listening and comparing the DAC-X6 against Fiio E10K. Without level matching, the DAC-X6 easily pulls ahead. Even with level matching, the DAC-X6 sounded noticeably better with the Sennheiser HD-650. There was more bass, more clarity, etc.

Review of the FX-Audio DAC-X6 - NerD|OtakU Review of the FX-Audio DAC-X6 - NerD|OtakU

My main reason for getting this was to see if this could power my Fostex T50rp's Mark3's more efficiently than my FiiO E10k... and short answer is... sadly, NO. Hello! Do you know if there are several versions of FX-Audio DAC-X6? I am going to buy one, but I have noticed some differences in internal construction. Take a look (bottom right corner): Ignore the Exasound E32 in yellow for a second. The red is FX-Audio DAC-X6 which has highest level of crosstalk in red. phones: Audeze LCD2f (Bamboo/suede), LCD2.2 (Rosewood/leather); prev. Hifiman HE400, Denon AH-D2000 By the way Marantz stopped designing DAC’s after the HD-DAC 1 I think because they know it’s no use designing something around DAC chips who look extremely good on paper but color the sound to stand out in the market. The High Res audio thing is just marketing. To compoare it with visual technology the latest DAC’s it’s like designing a monitor not only with RGB colors but also ultraviolet light. It’s useless. You can’t see it but it hurts your eyes. Same with the latest DAC’s….Note at this point that my inventory for comparison is rather limited so take this with a grain of salt. So my comparison is against the Benjie K9, Galaxy Note 5 and Sound Blaster Recon3d. Testing was done playing from Foobar2000 using .FLAC and mp3 files from my desktop computer via USB and optical connection using 2 channel, 24 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality). Music tested includes I’d like to add that you get circuit protection also at this price! What’s especially nice about the design of this dac is that it’s seems to be designed by actually listening at the result of the design. I bought the dac X6 Kgsuss (which looks a lot like the FX audio design) as a replacement for a soundblaster E5. The latter was three times the price but had all kinds of issues,(audible noise was one of them) That’s remarkable because both use the CS4398 DAC from Cirrus. It’s an old chip but it blows ESS sabre dacs and AKM Velvet sound/shit DAC’s completely away though the measurements of it are slightly worse. Topping uses the latest DAC chips but that’s all. Open one up and you’ll find almost no other components at all. Compare that to a Marantz – HD-DAC 1 (also designed around the CS4398) and you’ll find that FX audio did a pretty good job trying to actually design a DAC around this chip. FX-Audio DAC-X6 MKII follows the suite of its predecessor by using a sturdy aluminum case with a brushed finish. It grew in size, however, probably to accommodate the new BT feature. Given the asking price, I’m still as impressed with the build as I was with the original one. If they're bypassing the volume control, then I'd guess that they're bypassing the X6 dac/amp combi's amp section, altogether. The output is straight from the DAC part.

The FX Audio DAC-X6 is a Digital Audio Decoder and amplifier with multiple input options and a budget-friendly price. Low impedance headphones won't sound good with them as they can be quite sensitive to noise and such. The dac x6 has a output impedance of about 10 ohms so you generally want something above 80 or to be safe a 100 ohms as you generally want your output impedance/ headphone Impedance ratio to be 1/8or 1/10 Are you saying that they're totally not controlled by the volume knob, or just at too high a level? More important: it does not sound good to my ears. Harsh and messy with voices (even level and FR-matched). On the left side, when signal level is very small, we see the noise floor of the system. In this case it is -113 dBV so SNR is 6 dBV-(-113 dBV) = 119 dB (non-weighted).

The first of them is a move to a Sabre ESS9018 DAC chip. The next one is the added Bluetooth connectivity that the original X6 didn’t possess. All the usual digital inputs are present too. To cut things short, here’s the full list of features: That is an interesting find. Definitely an attempt to copy one another. Who came first is had to tell. As is knowing which is better without a bench test.
