This is a strong album, full of brilliant songs, which are beautifully produced. The guest artists contribute to that sound. Listen to Joe Bonamassa’s solo in “Give ‘Em My Love”, on which he shows great restraint and plays the solo that fits with Alan Parsons. Then spin “Uroboros”, on which Tommy Shaw (Styx) contributes vocals that are perfect for the project. Basically, Parsons creates a very consistent sound with various artists, which he has done so often in the past, both with The Alan Parsons Project and solo. Another significant reason for naming this album From the New World , Parsons says, is “because everybody’s living in a new world with the pandemic in their lives. The different singers throughout are not distracting, and it would seem that Parsons has very carefully chosen what songs fit the vocalist. The album title From the New World among other things was influenced by Antonín Dvořák's famous Symphony No. 9 in E minor (a favourite of Parsons' dad), and the beautiful, orchestral, self sung, melancholic, almost sentimental "Goin' Home" is based on one of its countless legendary tunes. Thankfully 'You Are the Light' spared is another ballad, instead showcasing a mid-tempo pop tune. Featured Parsons and Dan Tracey on lead vocals, the song featured a catchy, but anonymous melody.
