Another major innovation is the introduction of one Oxygen Free Copper Conductor and one Silver Plated Oxygen Free Copper Conductor to carry the same audio signal. The equivalent of having two cables in one this design helps provide an alternative route for high and low frequencies, reducing the “smearing” and disruption of the audio signal which would otherwise occur in a single, one material conductor configuration. The upshot is improved rhythm, enhanced clarity and tighter control.

That rich heritage and constant drive for innovation underpins QED’s latest products, announced today: the QED Reference XT40ispeaker cable, QED Performance Audio 40iinterconnect and QED XT25 Bi-Wirespeaker cable. All cables deliver an enhanced sonic performance without compromising on their competitive price points. In the vast majority of cases we will not be able to install the cabinet doors to built-in laundry products as the fittings very rarely match up. We will try our best however if we are unable to do this we will still install connect to plumbing and put the appliance in situ. We know QED for sensational levels of clarity and detail, and, even at this lower price, it doesn’t disappoint. This kind of transparency is difficult for rivals to match." (Read More) The XT25’s organisation is perhaps not as outstanding as with the C-Screen, but the latter benefits from a more insular, closer soundstage. It’s a case of differing abilities more so than one being objectively better than the other. All the cables are available from October with a lifetime guarantee. The prices are as follows: QED Reference XT40i speaker cableIn loudspeaker cables high pitched sounds are forced to travel towards the outside of the conductor and so are able to use less and less of the available cross-sectional area as the pitch increases. This is called the “Skin Effect”. It means that for high frequencies the resistance of the cable appears to be much higher than it does for lower pitched sounds. Eddy currents in one conductor can affect the current flowing in an adjacent conductor so that currents flowing in the same direction move away from each other. This “Proximity Effect” also increases resistance as frequency increases. These phenomena have a detrimental effect on the fidelity of the sound you hear. The XT25 variation of QED X-Tu Unique proprietary technology and trademarked geometries plus our award winning heritage all combine to create audible sonic improvements when compared to other loudspeaker cables. The new stereo interconnects' Solid Complementary Conductor technology reduces capacitance by a quarter compared to the original model, resulting in an enlargement of the stereo soundstage.

Using 99.999% oxygen-free copper cable, there's very low resistance, which makes it easier for your amplifier to drive your speaker as well as delivering a purer sound. It also makes the cable suitable for longer cable runs, with far less quality loss over longer lengths. I really would try to borrow a few different cables if I were you and try them out with your own set up. If you can't hear anything between them, then fine. In my experience though, makes more of a difference than you would think. There are no best audio cables per se. It depends on how they are built and the wire quality. You should consider three main properties when choosing a cable. They are capacitance, inductance, and resistance. Wire performance also depends on the environment, like extremely high and cold temperatures. With both the 6000A and the Billie, I found I could play the Lintons really loud without strain -- much louder than I think anyone would need to ever play them. This speaks well for Wharfedale’s claim of high sensitivity -- at a respective 50 and 60Wpc into 8 ohms, the Audiolab and Heaven 11 are hardly the most powerful amps in the world. It also speaks well for Wharfedale’s “Peak SPL” spec of 110dB. They don’t specify the distance, frequency, or bandwidth at which they got that number, or if it’s for one or two speakers, but by stating it at all they’re clearly trying to say that the Linton Heritages will play LOUD. And they did. In common with all of QED's cables, XT25 Bi-Wire’s design was informed by the lessons learned during their exhaustive research into loudspeaker cable design, which began in 1995 and detailed in the recently updated Genesis Report. This report sets out the design principles to which QED have adhered ever since and which resulted in the development of QED Supremus speaker cable – the ultimate expression of sound through science without compromise. Each QED cable in the range is based on this unique concept and although their designs may be variously influenced by price, size or ease of use, each retains the basic original features of the flagship model. This gives even the base-model cables a sonic advantage over their similarly priced competitors. XT25 Bi-Wire, for example, is essentially a scaled down version of the top-of-the-range Genesis Bi-Wire cable sharing many of its geometrical features but having a smaller cross-sectional area and using 99.999% oxygen-free copper conductors in place of the more expensive silver-plated variety. This is of paramount importance because the higher the resistance, the greater are the audible changes to the frequency response of the loudspeaker. Very Low Inductance X-Tube™ technology first came to prominence in 2005 with the launch of the world renowned Silver Anniversary XT, the most highly awarded mid-range cable in the world, winning the What Hi-Fi Product of the Year three years in a row. These design principles also grace the multiple award winning XT40 speaker cable and XT25. Acquired them all at different times (and setups) over the years. I'm in the process of trying to decide which one of the three to keep at the moment as I have downsized to just one simple system now. And it seems wasteful to have so much spare kit lying around. They each give a different sound. A very perceptible difference in sonic characteristics.
