Finally, sometimes we aren’t even sure how to pray or what promise to hold onto. In this case, we can take comfort in a verse from Romans:

Father, my Lord, you who started a good work in me, I know you are not finished with me yet. I am applying for opportunities at this moment, Lord. I am praying for your help so that I may be confident in my ability. May your mighty hand work miracles for me. I need this job. I believe that you have good plans for me and that all will be well when you are finished with me. You are the sculptor, and I am the clay, oh Lord. Form me in your image, and help me succeed. Amen. Acts 4:24 tells us that the early church at prayer “raised their voice to God with one accord” (NKJV). From the initial “Heavenly Father” to the concluding “in Jesus’s name, amen” a public prayer is the united supplication of everyone. Why We Should As we continue, let’s explore the second point, that we ask according to His will. For many believers, this is a new concept, and yet it’s a very encouraging promise given to us in the Scriptures. Actually, there are hundreds of promises in the Scriptures for us to pray, but we’ll touch on just a few here. And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!” Valerie also shares some tough love with us, as she asks, “Who are we to be like, ‘Yeah, I don’t know if I’m going to trust God’?” She points out that He created us; He created everything. He sent his son to die for us. Who are we to analyze whether or not to trust Him? When we do this we are putting our thoughts at the center rather than God. Instead, whenever we put God at the center, we can change the question to ask: “Who am I to not trust God? Who am I to not pour out worship on Him?” Remember that when we pray, God is listening and He is more than able to help. Then, when He does, we have to be ready to act on His provision. Regardless of our life situation, God is always present to hear our joys and sorrows and accomplishments and failures. This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

Just pray. John Owen memorably said that “the prayers of the [weakest] saints may be useful to the greatest apostle.” We serve a God who hears the prayers of widows and orphans, who welcomes the hosannas of little children, and who uses them all to accomplish his great purposes. Pray for God’s help. When you know you will have an opportunity to lead others in prayer, pray ahead of time that God would give you the ability to do it clearly and helpfully. Strong's 191: To hear, listen, comprehend by hearing; pass: is heard, reported. A primary verb; to hear. The words to notice are being sure and certain . Faith is having absolute confidence that something that hasn’t happened yet will happen, and that something that you can’t see will come to be. That’s what faith is. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. – 1 John 5:13-15 The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
