Description

It uses the same plastic resin as the other Yamaha, and the production is fairly consistent. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a ligature when you buy the mouthpiece without a saxophone. Pros

In fact, most new Yamaha alto saxophones comes with a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece in the case. This shows that Yamaha themselves are confident with their product. I will go out on a limb here and disagree with the “ideal for professionals” part of their grand statement. Any professional musician who has been playing for many, many years is most likely to have outgrown their original Yamaha 4C mouthpiece. They may well have kept theirs as a spare “just in case”– like I have – but I doubt that a pro player would use theirs on a regular basis. One of the easiest ways to improve your sound is to upgrade your alto sax mouthpiece. You can find dozens of options online and in music stores, so it can be hard to know what to choose. Not only does the superb Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece deliver on the harmony and clarity of the intonation, but it also delivers on the incredibly consistent performance. Sure – while we’d all love a Ferrari, often the budget simply does not allow it. So we buy a push bike instead. The Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece has a facing length of 23 mm. As a result of the shorter facing of this mouthpiece compared to the Custom Series, it is easier to play and obtain a rich, distinctive saxophone sound, which is especially beneficial for beginners. Beginners have less control of their mouths and their facial muscles and indeed their saxophones. As such a smaller sized mouthpiece makes it easier to get a great sound. You can choose from a variety of facings, but it doesn’t say how the facings differ. Still, it can be a good choice for anyone who plays classical music a lot. Pros The Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece is constructed of phenol resin plastic, which is safe and long-lasting. It is also a high-quality mouthpiece because it is made with Yamaha’s advanced manufacturing procedures. This material is quite resilient, and it will last for years if used regularly.the question posed is not uninteresting, however: would a mouthpiece with the only variable being tip opening...sound discernibly different from the smaller-tipped version ? There’s a square cross section in the chamber to help you get a nice tone. You can play this model in any classical setting and sound great. The 4C is not the smallest size mouthpiece you can get, but it does the best job in the most scenarios. After I’d been playing the alto sax for a while, my teacher recommend the J & D Hite Artist mouthpiece. It was a nice upgrade and helped me get a better sound without needing a new sax.

The difference between a “beginner / intermediate” mouthpiece and a “professional” mouthpiece is the size of the gap between the tip and the reed. This is also the reason I’d recommend the 5C mouthpieces for jazz players, who can combine it with a metal ligature and half a drop in the reed strength that you usually use for a lively sound and enhanced playability. PriceI looked at a variety of mouthpieces, and I chose models from good brands. In my search, I made sure to include mouthpieces that use different materials and are at various prices. P.S. This mouthpiece appears to be gold-plated, but I can’t tell for sure. Either way, it looks great and can help you get a fantastic sound out of your sax. Answer: It doesn’t hurt to try a saxophone mouthpiece before you buy it. That way, you can make sure it works well with your reed and the body or your instrument. If you have a large budget, you may want to try the Theo Wanne DURGA 5 mouthpiece. The model uses gold, but I can’t tell if it’s solid gold or gold-plated.
