The new silver and gold-wrapped sweet is brown and white on the outside with crunchy pieces of biscuit inside. Shoppers at the Oxford Street branch of John Lewis in London, where the new variety went on sale on Tuesday, gave the new white chocolate variety their seal of approval. Toffee Fingers – Chocolate coated toffee fingers measuring an inch and a half long, these sweets are satisfying to chew on, offering a wonderful combination of chocolate and gooey toffee. His idea was to cover the different toffees with chocolate and present them in low-cost, yet attractive, boxes. The tins are also a great container for household items, with their attractive, sturdy design. So there are arguments to be made either way if sustainability is one of your major purchasing motivations. Alternatives to Quality Street You Might Want to Look at

Perhaps predictably, the only complaint came from a dental hygienist. Sairan Fattah, 49, from Tottenham, said she liked the “crunchy milky nice flavour”, but that she found it “a little too sweet”. Orange Cream – A burst of orange flavour erupts from inside the dark chocolate shell of these ever-popular sweets.

For reasons of hygiene and safety, personal grooming products, cosmetics or items of intimate clothing cannot be returned. Those are the main quantities on offer from Quality Street, but what about the chocolates themselves? Nowadays, you’ll find 12 different flavours and styles in a standard Quality Street collection, including: Caramel Swirls – Another classic, caramel swirls are simple but satisfying, consisting of a chocolate coating and a soft caramel core. Celebrations have the tagline "Share the joy", and were one of the first mixed boxes of chocolates in the UK to bring together confectionery which had been already released in one box or tin instead of introducing new, specially-created treats made exclusively for the UK market, by a major producer. I counted the chocolates in a 650g tub of Nestle Quality Street to find out how many chocolates you get per tub and here are the results:

I weighed Nestle Quality Street chocolates from a 650g tub to get an average weight per chocolate for each type. Strawberry Delight – As the name implies, these fruity chocolates are a delight, consisting of a chocolate shell filled with strawberry cream. Toffee Deluxe (replaced by Honeycomb Crunch, reintroduced and then replaced by Chocolate Caramel Brownie) According to Nestle, three Quality Street chocolates add up to around 130 calories, so each single chocolate will be about 40-50 calories. Given that the daily recommended intake of an adult woman is 2,000 calories, that doesn’t seem to bad. Then again, it’s easy to start munching chocolates, and before too long, your calorie intake has gone through the roof. Please note, this information is based on what I counted in a typical tub, and amounts may vary. Quality Street Chocolate Type Unsurprisingly, given that the brand has been around for the best part of 85 years, there have been many flavours that had to be sacrificed to make way for the current crop. Like Heroes, they comprise of miniature versions of the chocolate brands owned by the manufacturer - Mars. While Quality Street’s products aren’t the most calorific around and are certainly tasty, how do they rate in environmental terms? There have been concerns raised around the environmental cost of palm oil used by major confectioners as well as the working conditions in cacao-growing areas, but are Quality Street involved in these scandals?

Harriet Canby, 30, a surveyor from south-west London, nodded approvingly as she tasted the sweet, but said she was usually more of a Celebrations person. She said white chocolate, which she associates with children’s chocolates like Milky Bars, can be a “love-hate” flavour for people. But she said the new Quality Street was delicious. “Really good. I like the crunchy centre.”But how do Quality Street compare with other chocolate brands? Not too badly actually. Quality Street chocolates contain around 455 calories per 100g, which is more or less the same as Mars bars, but much less than Cadbury’s Dairy Milk (which weighs in at 530 calories). So if you are worried about your waistline and absolutely must dive into a tin of sweets, Quality Street may not be the worst option around – but it’s definitely not a health food. It’s a sweet treat. Are Quality Street Products Environmentally Friendly?
