I received this book from the author for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own." M.G. Edwards is a writer of books and stories in the mystery, thriller and science fiction-fantasy genres. He also writes travel adventures and children's books.

Thanks! We've added you to our list.

The characters are adorable stuffed animals that you can tell are loved very much by their owners. My daughter loves that the penguin in the story is very similar to a stuffed penguin that she currently owns. At the beginning of this story, Ellie the elephant is saddened as the zoo is closing and she is unaware of how she can help. She sees other animals assisting; however, Ellie feels as though she has no special skills. In the end, Ellie accidentally realizes her unexpected skill and helps to save the zoo. This children's book presents the story of an individual who felt as though she had no power but found her voice and her identity through painting. This story is very powerful and speaks to the importance of identity. "Ellie" could prove to be a beneficial supplemental text to encourage students to think about their own skills and abilities and how they are beneficial, as individuals, to the communities they are members of.

I love Uncle Amon’s stories. There are always wonderful activities included at the end for kids to explore further. Older children should have no trouble reading these stories alone and younger children should enjoy having them read to them. Ellie Makes a New Friend” is the first book in the Amazing Adventures of Ellie the Elephant series. I have read the first two book in this series and my kids and I are in love with the stories. My son is an avid train fan and normally will only want to read book about trains, will ask to read the books in this series over and over again. In preceding books, including “Sweet Land of Liberty,”“Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride,”“Yankee Doodle Dandy,”“From Sea to Shining Sea,” and “Christmas in America,” Ellis learns about the pivotal moments that have shaped our nation. Now, in “Hail to the Chief,” this adorable pachyderm explores the fascinating lives of those who have held the nation’s highest office. They wondered if there was something that would keep the zoo open. What could each one do to "spruce it up a bit?" Every animal had some ability that they used to clean up the zoo...that is, all but Ellie, the elephant. But one day, the zookeeper left a paint brush out with orange paint still in the bristles. Ellie tried using it. She found that she could paint...flowers, rainbows, animals, people. And she painted everywhere. All around the zoo! Everywhere! He is author of "Kilimanjaro: One Man’s Quest to Go Over the Hill," a non-fiction account of his attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, and a short story collection called "Real Dreams: Thirty Years of Short Stories." He also wrote and illustrated three books in the World Adventurers for Kids Series: "Alexander the Salamander," "Ellie the Elephant," and "Zoe the Zebra." Ellie the Elephant is a sweet and caring elephant who enjoys helping her friends. Yet, no matter how much she cares for the other animals, she remains a sad little elephant who never smiled. Four of her closest friends decide to find out why Ellie is so sad, so they follow her around to observe her throughout her typical day. They soon learn that Ellie has a very sad story to tell indeed. The Monkey Who Cried Crocodile is a fun retelling of The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf. Tough Guy Rex is about a rhino that is far too friendly for his family’s expectations. A Flamingo of Many Colors centers on Fatima the flamingo who’s unhappy being the same old boring color, pink. In Prince of the Jungle, Lyle the lion is surprised to suddenly find out he’s a prince. If that doesn’t happen, then the child is like Ellie, wandering the neighborhood by herself, feeling lost and alone, wanting someone to play with. Even children with friends can relate to this and it is a lesson to the children to go out of their way to say “hello” and ask the new child, “Do you want to play with me(us)?”

In preceding books, including “Sweet Land of Liberty,”“Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride,”“Yankee Doodle Dandy,”“From Sea to Shining Sea,”“Christmas in America,” and “Hail to the Chief,” Ellis learns about the pivotal moments that have shaped our nation. Now, in Remember the Ladies, this adorable pachyderm explores the fascinating lives of our first ladies. Making new friends is always an adventure. He loves it when he meets a new buddy at the park. Like Ellie, he will play on his own, but he finds it infinitely more fun when he has a friend to hang out with! Nellie the Elephant" is a children's song written in 1956 by Ralph Butler and Peter Hart about a fictional anthropomorphic elephant of that name. [1] Original version [ edit ] The zookeeper makes a difficult announcement...the zoo would be closing. To the animals, this was their home. What would happen to them?Betts, Graham (2004). Complete UK Hit Singles 1952-2004 (1sted.). London: Collins. p.793. ISBN 0-00-717931-6. Ellie takes a trip to the library and discovers some helpful books on friendship and begins her search to find a new friend. Will Ellie be able to find a new friend so that she won’t be lonely any more?

The story is done in a scrapbook style. I love the fresh and unique look this gives the story. The font is easily read, highlighting key words throughout the story. This not only adds visual interest, but focuses on key points in the story that as a parent I can use as discussion topics later. In preceding books, including “Sweet Land of Liberty,”“Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride,”“Yankee Doodle Dandy,” and “From Sea to Shining Sea,” Ellis learns about the pivotal moments that have shaped our nation. Now, in “Christmas in America,” this adorable pachyderm explores the tales and traditions that have made Christmas a cherished part of the American experience. Authored by Ambassador Callista L. Gingrich and illustrated by Susan Arciero, “Yankee Doodle Dandy” educates and entertains as Ellis the Elephant experiences the American Revolution. With beautiful illustrations and charming rhymes, “Yankee Doodle Dandy” is a must read for young and old alike who want to know how America became a free and independent nation. The lesson is further reinforced by using stuffed animals as the characters. Children have a natural love for that type of toy, so in some sense it improves their ability to empathize with the lost child. This is a great book for children, it is easy to read, involves characters and situations they understand and provides a valuable lesson for dealing with others. The story uses situations that my kids can relate to, like going out for ice-cream or playing on a swing. My son is easily able to understand how much more fun playing on a swing set or eating ice-cream is with a friend, rather than playing on his own.
