Finally this weekend i got to planting at last and while doing so I noticed that the tops aren't fit for purpose. They are starting to split along their length. If it gets any worse I will be asking for replacements which will be useless if they send similar pieces. They didn't include paper instructions weirdly using Covid 19 as an excuse not to do so. I had to print mine out and ran out of ink in my printer while doing so. Very inconvenient at the weekend. At the end, I’m hoping to also give you guys an update on the travel trailer (it has a name, I’m trying to come up with a pretty piece of art for its new name, and we should be starting on the restoration — coughcough gut job— very soon!). Cucumbers do very well in raised beds, but they do need a depth of around 18” to grow properly. Give them a spot in full sun and protect them from frost in the winter months. Growing them on stakes or a trellis like the image above will give you more space beneath. We strongly recommend putting a liner and drainage medium in all of our structures, especially in raised beds where you are planning on using soil to grow with ( we now sell a liner). WoodBlocX raised beds do not have a base but you can add your own if you require (we recommend using a good-quality plywood).

If, on the other hand, you fancy putting your DIY skills to the test, a wooden planter box is fairly easy to put together. Wooden boards can be cut to the right size and glued together. Once the glue has dried, drill screws into the wood for added strength. This raised garden bed comes with rust-proof steel crossbars, which prevent the wood from bowing under the weight of the soil.We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

While we’re firm believers that any garden can benefit from a raised bed, there’s a lot of things to think about when it comes to implementing this style of bed into your garden. Size, design, material, location and soil type all need considering, and the options for each are seemingly endless!Calculate the amount of soil you will need (cubic feet/yards) using the dimensions of your raised garden bed. Keep in mind that the number should include the soil mixed in with compost. Your soil mixture should be 60% topsoil, 30% compost, and 10% potting soil. As soil can be quite expensive, we suggest you try the Hugelkultur method if you want to save money. Once you have obtained the soil, fill it near the top. The exact amount is determined by the type of plants you will be growing and personal preference. Make sure to refrain from tilling the soil as this can dry it out.

Made in the USA from kiln-dried cedar, these L-shaped raised garden beds fit perfectly in the corner of a yard, or arranged in pairs to enclose an area of your garden. If your dog hasn’t quite grasped the concept of not digging up your perfect peonies, a puppy-proof raised bed is worth considering. Depending on the size of your dog, you could install a raised bed which they are unable to reach. Taller beds have the added benefit of being easier for you to tend to and maintain. 38. Create More Planting Space with Multi-Tiered Beds Before Vego released Aluzinc Steel Raised Beds, our friends in Australia have used it in gardening for over 100 years. In fact, it's the most popular raised bed material on the market. Our raised beds are safe to grow vegetables, fruits and other edible plants in. While treated wood and plastic degrade under extreme temperatures, Aluzinc steel will not leach chemicals into plants or soil. This helps maintain the highest quality soil for organic gardening. Aluzinc steel provides superior performance and corrosion resistance under numerous environmental conditions. The metal and paint used to construct our beds will not leach any harmful contaminants into the soil. Everything else went well until it came to the top layer. Apart from the missing corner brace which was sent promptly but arrived damaged, they don't include correctly sized plugs. The instructions ask you to saw the top bit off which for a luxury item like this is disappointing. Why not sent correctly sized plugs?
