About this deal

Optimal results are achieved by installing the GAIA isolators with the logo facing the listening position, or rotated 180 degrees, to align the isolators with the speaker’s motive forces. Lift and place the speakers into position as the GAIA lower isolators will adhere to the supporting surface. Based on patented designs, IsoAcoustics has developed products for the Professional Audio and home project studio, the HiFi and consumer market, and large applications that include Pro Audio, HiFi and Live sound. IsoAcoustics distribution is structured with separate channels for Pro Audio and Home Audio, with product development within these channels. In this relatively short period of time, IsoAcoustics has grown rapidly and now sells in over 60 countries.

Notice the large rubber washer between the massive feet of the RBH SVTR Towers. I had to use a strap wrench to finally pry them loose. A testament to RBH's incredible build quality! The Townshend platform comparison is an interesting one, not least because I have a set to hand. The two perform in an all-but identical manner in sonic terms, with deeper and tauter bass, improved midrange, greater image depth, more solidity of instruments, and improved dimensionality within a stereo soundstage. There’s a greater overall focus to the sound too, with a good sense of rhythm, and no downsides! And so, in my personal quest to minimize vibration, I came upon IsoAcoustics, a company whose products I was casually familiar with but never had hands-on experience.

So I'm waxing lyrical right? Guy spends stupid money on speakers feet and placebo effect wins the day? I don't think so. I was not sat there straining to hear these differences, they are there immediately and with no doubt. The GAIA’s are threaded into the base of the speaker or subwoofer to replace the existing spikes or feet. Threading the GAIA’s into the base of the speaker creates a strong connection with the speaker. With the top of the GAIA housing connected with the speaker and the bottom of the GAIA connected to the supporting surface, all of the energy is then managed by the GAIA’s internal isolator. Gaia II Never too late to switch over considering these hardware store spikes, being dirt cheap, & done the job right! We reserve the right to refuse installation should our engineers think that the existing electrical or plumbing points are unsafe and in need of maintenance or if they are unable to install to existing furniture.

That doesn’t mean I didn’t sense a difference. I did indeed perceive that the soundstage and the bass tightened up. The sensation is as though the SVTR Signature Towers cabinets became more inert. The quantity and quality of the bass output from the SVTR Signature Towers is simply body blowing and anything I’ll write will fail to convey the experience of these speakers. Nevertheless, introducing the GAIA to the equation improved the perceived performance of the speakers in my room. Conclusion The Celesta at 55 lbs each (without stands) had 4 spikes on the bottom of each speaker which then sat on stands, while the Alec at 75 lbs each had 4 spikes on each bottom which sat on the floor. But the floor was covered with a shag rug. So, where to optimally place the Gaia? When home, I sent some photos and specs of the speakers and space to IsoAcoustics. They recommended that for the Celesta, use them to replace the spikes only on the speakers (do not change the bottom of the stands), while for the Alec replace the spikes but because of the shag rug, add IsoAcoustics carpet discs which are small metal cups that the Gaia sit in but that themselves have small spikes on their bottom to ensure a tight fit on the rug.

To fine-tune speaker placement, tilt the speaker and put a cloth under the GAIA to slide them into any position. The D7.2s are floorstanders, so the Gaia III simply replace the supplied spikes in the four corners of each loudspeaker’s base. The Classic 1/2s are large standmounts, so the Gaia III replace the spikes on the bottom of the stands. ISOAcoustics say this shouldn’t work as well given that the isolation feet are further from the loudspeaker being isolated. Thankfully, no one told the Classic 1/2. Canada’s IsoAcoustics Inc is one such company, founded by Dave Morrison who brings with him decades of experience designing and building radio and TV studios, so he knows more than a thing or two about engineering products and environments for greater sonics. Please note: TV and larger floorstanding speaker deliveries are not available to Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Scottish Islands, and Channel Islands.I was looking to isolate my speakers from the hardwood floor to mitigate some of the physical vibrations that went into the room from my speakers without altering the sound—I did not want a solution that dampened or muddied the impact of lower frequencies. There was no marking, scratching or residual impact on my hardwood floor. Even after months of use, the GAIA kept my hardwood floor in perfect condition. Unlike other isolation products I’ve used (like Sorbothane) IsoAcoustics isolators are made of a resilient elastomer that do not leave a residue or marking on the floor. Indeed, even with speakers weighing over 205 lbs, there was no residue or marking left on the floor even after months of use. The materials also don’t change properties with humidity or temperature fluctuations.

Finished in an elegant machined dark chrome metal housing, it is the union of aesthetic visual design and acoustic engineering. Detail of the IsoAcoustics GAIA Titan included isolators and accessories. Each isolator comes wrapped in a clear plastic to ensure you don't scratch them prior to installation. The photo above includes the plastic covering, which is the reason why you may see some bubbles on the finish in the photo above. Being honest if your subs are on carpet I'd suggest using spikes or even granite plinths with SVS feetbut if you have no issues at present then leave things as they are. My 2-way KEF bookshelf loudspeakers are mounted on sand/lead shot-filled tripod on spikes on wall-to-wall carpeted concrete floor of my house basement.

Fine-tuning speaker placement or moving the speakers was a breeze. Tipping the Salon2 a bit until the suction released from the floor allowed me to put a towel or rag under the GAIA. From there on out, I could move the Salon2 to play with positioning or move them out of the way for another speaker review. I didn’t need to be concerned about damaging my hardwood floor or going through different prophylactic gyrations. All speakers idealise cabinet inertness, look at the Q acoustics concept 500 speakers (will buy these one day!) and the lengths designers went to to dampen the cabinet. Frank Filipetti, Grammy Award Winning Producer/Enginneer whose long list of credits includes Foreigner, Carly Simon, Barbara Streisand, James Taylor, and George Michael to name a few. The B&W plate adapts the GAIA I to the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus and Diamond series speakers. The ball-casters are removed and replaced with the B&W plate, which provides a threaded hole for the appropriate stud to screw into. While there are many kinds of footersout there that make various claims and can be obscenely expensive and even sometimes not even pleasant to look at, the IsoAcoustics Gaia are different: They have elegant and classy looks, relatively low prices—and they work. I think my tinkering, while subdued for now, was well worth the adventure. Highly recommended.
