Description

Zero-waste living, remember, aims use only that which can be reused or composted, rather than sent to landfills or incinerated. If you want to go full on zero waste there are some options for that, such as family cloth and a bidet, but we’re not ready for that switch yet, and that’s where Who Gives A Crap toilet paper comes in. Why is toilet paper bad for the environment? Disclaimer: since we’re stationed in North America, we’re only going over WGAC prices for Canada and the USA. Otherwise, we LOVE Who Gives A Crap! (and we hope you will too!) Pros of the 100% recycled toilet paper

But just for simplicity’s sake, recycled toilet paperis currently best for the environment overall as it repurposeswaste rather than making a whole brand-new product. Remember the R’s of sustainability! it was graded an almost perfect sustainability score on the NRDC’s “The Issue with Tissue Scorecard 2021” report!!!Before we start talking about Who Gives A Crap, we should probably answer the following question first: Of course, some brands do use recycled materials, but incredibly this has decreased over the past few years, despite a strong rise in interest in environmentalism, recycling and finding alternatives to single-use plastics. COVID has undeniably propelled this decrease with the use of single-use masks and PPE, along with a rise in single-use coffee cups and other utensils in a bid to stop the spread of the virus. Who Gives A Crap was started when they learned that over 2.3 billion people in the world don’t have access to a toilet. This is a serious health issue, as “289,000 children under five die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation.”

YourBestDigs.com chose the toilet papers they were reviewing after extensive research to see which toilet paper brands represented the most popular choices out there, along with a few alternative newcomers. Who Gives A Crap’s toilet paper, both the recycled and bamboo, are not as soft as the leading “traditional” toilet paper brands, but after a few uses you really don’t notice anything. We’ve used both Who Gives A Crap 100% Recycled Toilet Paper and Premium 100% Bamboo Toilet Paper for years, and we can confidently say it feels extremely similar to the normal toilet paper you’re buying now. The 100% recycled paper may feel a bit scratchier than an ultra-plush option at the store, but it still feels better than thin, single-ply rolls. The bamboo option really does feel like plush toilet paper and, unless you have very high criteria for toilet paper, we doubt you’ll notice a difference. It’s alsofree of dyes and perfumesso if you (like us) have adjusted to a less fragranced world, this will suit you just fine… honestly, who needs toilet paper that smells sort of like roses? The company is mainly Australia based, but the products are made in China. Products are shipped by sea freight from China to the EU (Netherlands), UK, USA and Australia. They are then distributed to customers from there rather than being shipped from China to Australia and then onward.Nothing in this article discusses the bleaches used in toilet paper. I’ve not been able to find any information on whether Who Gives a Crap paper uses chorine bleach, which basically results in putting poison into the waterways. If it’s not discussed, then it’s quite possible that this paper uses chlorine instead of the environmentally benign alternatives. As for softness, no scratching or cringing going on here, we would never have known it was recycled in a blind feel test. Like the toilet paper these kitchen paper towels are double length, meaning they are cheaper than they first seem to be. They’re made from a blend of bamboo and sugarcane, this blend makes them stronger and more absorbent, perfect for kitchen spills! Sugarcane and Bamboo Paper Towels Dream Cloths I can’t give a personal opinion on this particular product but I can tell you what they are. Basically they’re a reusable sponge / cloth. Touted as an alternative to paper towels, these can be washed and reused numerous times to mop up spills.
