Lowland tequilas are grown and produced deep in the Tequila Valley outside of the cities of Tequila and Guadalajara, while highland (Los Altos) tequilas come from higher-altitude regions surrounding the valleys. The tasting differences are relatively subtle, but experts note that highland tequilas are more floral, while lowland tequilas are more vegetal and herbal.

Casa Obsidiana Reposado: The bottle shape of Casa Obsidiana Reposado is inspired by water’s fluid movement and ability to gently shape over time, with a colour reminiscent of the Blue Weber agave plants. Aged for four months, the tequila features an aroma of hazelnut, toffee, charred peppers, and stewed citrus. The palate provides tasting notes of warm baking spices, caramel, and earthy agave. To turn the añejo spirit into the Cristalino tequila style, the deep amber liquid is filtered through charcoal to produce an incredibly smooth, bright-tasting tequila, crystal clear in colour while retaining the rich flavours and textures imparted by the barrel. The final result is a tequila with an extra Sherry softness and complex flavour profile that features notes of cooked agave and dried fruits, with lasting notes of oak and a bright, refreshing finish. agave Tequila is incredibly low in sugars making it the best liquor when counting calories. Does Patron El Alto use additives?

Flavour: Sweet and soft on the palate with rich, smooth notes of stone fruit and a refreshingly bright finish. Agave, unlike a grape or wheat crop, takes closer to a decade to properly mature. That means the soil and growing conditions have more impact on the final product than fermentation, distillation and aging combined. The growing region of Los Altos is situated 6,900 feet above sea level and has mineral rich volcanic soil—ideal for growing flavorful agave. My education and training include a thorough knowledge of agave spirits creation from planting agaves to bottling, including distillation. Tequila hasn’t claimed the crown of best-selling spirit in America just yet — only vodka now stands in its way on that front — but Mexico’s famous agave distillate has firmly established itself as a staple of stateside drinking culture. However, while Patron prides itself on offering an authentic taste without additives, El Alto falls short in delivering a premium experience.

The insights I’ve gained aren’t just from books or hearsay; they are the result of hands-on experience, countless tastings, and an enduring passion for these spirits. I was excited to see the development of the tequila’s tasting notes after being aged in wine barrels and found that the end result both honours the traditions of tequila making while shining a light on what modern-day Mexico has to offer. It’s also exciting to bring this to life beside partners both old and new.” Often labeled as “blanco” or “plata,” silver tequila is typically unaged and is clear as a result. Many tout silver tequila as agave’s most undiluted expression and the best measure of a brand’s range. Gold tequila, often labeled as “joven” or “oro,” is also typically unaged, though can include a blend of unaged and aged tequilas. In some cases, gold tequilas get their color from the addition of caramel colorings and other flavors. What are the best-selling tequilas? In case you need to feel worse about your career trajectory, or seek new reasons to believe in your dreams, you can always remind yourself that Patrón co-founder John Paul DeJoria once worked as a janitor. Did we mention he’s now friends with Dirty Harry? Yeah, he’s doing all right. It’s Mexican tequila, but the label’s a shout-out to the U.S. Navy. Casa Obsidiana Añejo: An ode to Mexican cubism, the Casa Obsidiana Añejo bottle’s rich red colour represents the iron-rich volcanic earth of its estate agave fields. The Añejo is aged for 15 months and has an aroma of oak, coffee, clove, and candied citrus. Tasting notes include butterscotch, cinnamon, raisins, and roasted agave.Few of my favorite things. My tequila and fishing on my farm. I’ve been raising my fish for years now and I got some aggressive fatties roaming these waters – largemouth bass, stripped bass, various sunnies, carp and after my 5th glass of tequila, I start seeing the pink dolphins. 6’6 medium/heavy action, 10lb test, 1/2oz spinner w/ a white skirt ~ if you know, you know. Cheers my friends 🥃🎣 #mykindofheaven Made by hand, in a painstaking process that’s been used since the brand’s inception, the majority of Patrón El Alto Tequila is created using the traditional Tahona production process. A method that requires meticulous precision and time, a two-ton volcanic stone is used for crushing the baked agave which creates a tequila with the natural sweetness and flavours of the earth. Patrón is the leading producer of Tahona-based tequila in the world, demonstrating its commitment to a time-honoured process, further exemplified by Patrón El Alto. However, the flavor profile may appear light and restrained, featuring notes of vanilla, caramel, and a delicate touch of pineapple.

Like everyone’s favorite, and inevitable ex-girlfriend, Patrón was born in 1989. We don’t know how many celebrity hearts it’s broken, or whether it and Jake Gyllenhaal are still on good terms, but the brand, like Swift, has likely led to more than a few tales of heartbreak. Patrón production is surprisingly old-school. My journey has seen me as an owner of sophisticated bars and renowned liquor shops, and even as a Mezcal distiller, honing the craft from scratch.US singer-songwriter and menswear designer John Varvatos have partnered with Stoli Group to launch Villa One, which will compete in the super-premium Tequila sphere alongside the likes of Patrón and Casamigos.

Teremana is an “ultra-premium small batch, highlands tequila” apparently, crafted in a small town in Jalisco, Mexico. It will be available in Blanco and Reposado in three sizes; 375ml, 750ml and 1lr. The result of this labor comes in two final expressions: plata and reposado. Both have an herbal nose. Plata, which is unaged, is aromatic and sweet with citric and cooked Agave notes, well balanced with peppery heat and has a long lasting, fruity finish.

Co-founder Martin Crowley designed the logo, which — and we seriously never noticed this — has a hornet on the label. That’s because before he got heavy into tequila, Crowley served in the Navy on the massive USS Hornet aircraft carrier. It’s a mega brand with some unexpectedly small-business vibes. Adding to the disappointment, El Alto carries a hefty price tag, making it one of the most expensive Reposado Tequilas on the market. When it comes to the palate, El Alto provides a smooth and oily texture, enhancing the overall drinking experience. Your taste buds will sway you to the type of tequila to buy. There are many varieties of tequila—and how it is produced, including whether or not it's aged and what type of agave and other ingredients are added, has the impact on the taste of this liquor. You might find hints of citrus, honey, herbs, spices, and floral notes when tasting it.
