Although Lucasfilm has been concentrating on making Star Wars TV output for Disney Plus in recent years, it hasn't lost interest in the big screen. At Star Wars Celebration in April 2023, three new movies were announced: an origin tale for the Jedi, set millennia before the Star Wars timeline we know and directed by Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny helmer James Mangold; the first Star Wars story to be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, focussed on Rey's efforts to found a new Jedi academy, and marshalled by Ms Marvel's Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy; and a climactic event movie that'll wrap up the storylines of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and (we think) Skeleton Crew, directed by Ahsoka creator/showrunner Dave Filoni.

The new standardized Star Wars "canon" includes all the movie episodes, The Clone Wars TV show, and almost all new stories since 2014. Timelines states that the events of Star Wars (2015) 7 occur in 11 BBY. It then dates the events of Star Wars (2015) 15 and Star Wars (2015) 20 to the following year, 10 BBY. This placement was previously established in Star Wars Helmet Collection 66. However, as explained here, issue 7 must actually occur in 9 BBY or 8 BBY, while Star Wars 15 and 20 both take place in either 8 BBY or 7 BBY. Since 2014, the official Star Wars canon includes all of the movie episodes, The Clone Wars film and the television shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars Resistance, as well as any books, comics, and video games published after April 2014.Grogu calls to the Jedi but is then captured by the evil Moff Gideon, who holds the Darksaber blade. Din is helped by Boba Fett – who is on the search for his armor – and the former heiress of Mandalore, Bo-Katan to beat Moff Gideon. (referenced in The Mandalorian) Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher - one of the most important recent releases, this tells the story of Luke Skywalker's quest for the Sith planet Exegol. It's a crucial piece of continuity, explaining how Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker fits into the franchise's overarching narrative. Tarkin by James Luceno - written by one of the masters of Star Wars continuity, Tarkin focuses in on the Grand Moff who would take charge of the Death Star project. It's a crucial part of the story of the first Death Star.

Thrawn: Treason by Timothy Zahn - a sequel to Thrawn: Alliances, this serves as direct setup to the final season of Star Wars Rebels.Timelines dates the Ordu Aspectu's disappearance to 20,000 BBY, except that it is supposed to have used the Great Temple of Yavin 4 which was built around 5000 BBY. It would be weird to watch a movie or read a novel where the climax occurs in the middle, and the second half acts as a stretched denouement. Still, the rippling effects of the climax are often fascinating — and that’s why series are so popular. They allow us to see what happens to characters after the fight is done or the revelation uncovered — or, in Leia’s case, after she finds out that Darth Vader is her father.

Most Wanted is Rae Carson's debut Star Wars novel and a fast-paced glimpse into the lives of Qi'ra and Han before Solo: A Star Wars Story. Takes place in: 4 ABY (ABY means "after A New Hope"), and covers the events after Return of the Jedi, setting the stage nicely for The Force Awakens.
