Compute Units, power consumption, boost frequency - by themselves, these figures don't mean a whole lot. If you're a gamer, you're no doubt interested in how they translate to real-world gaming performance. Fortunately, we've ran in-house testing here at Ebuyer on the AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT and have produced all-important FPS metrics for some of the latest games.

That said, almost any mention of FSR invites comparison with its Nvidia equivalent, DLSS. And despite FSR's many improvements over the past year, DLSS is still better. It’s just as capable of big FPS boosts as FSR, but its more intelligent upscaling tends to produce sharper, less processed-looking frames, with custom anti-aliasing that’s just about always sharper than what even FSR 2.0 manages. The 6600 XT is just 5% faster than the RTX 3060 at 1440p and the 6650 XT increased that margin to 12%, so a decent performance advantage, especially given the Radeon GPUs are cheaper right now. So let's move on to take a look at that... Cost Per FrameNext we have Shadow of the Tomb Raider with an 8% increase for the 6650 XT at 1080p over the original model, making it 10% faster than the RTX 3060. The other model we have on hand is the Sapphire Nitro+ which is physically a much larger card, though it still only has two fans. This model also peaked at 62C, though remarkably it did so with a fan speed of just 750 RPM, and this is about as close to silent as you'll get with an actively cooled graphics card.

The RX 6650 XT is a 3060-beater at 2560x1440, too. Maybe not always, and not by exclusively chunky margins – in Horizon Zero Dawn, its 73fps result (again on Ultimate quality) won’t look any different to the RTX 3060’s 72fps. And in Final Fantasy XV, I could slap on the Highest preset and mosey around the plains of Duscae at 59fps on the RX 6650 XT, but the RTX 3060 actually found a few extra frames to average 63fps. Nvidia’s card was also 5fps faster in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with the RX 6650 XT averaging 51fps on Highest settings. Even if small, an official price hike for Navi 23 silicon seems a bit daff considering what's been going on with GPUs the past two years. This isn't how AMD wins gamers over to the Radeon brand. If anything it's a turn off. Just because Nvidia gets away with crap like this it doesn't mean AMD can or should follow. Personally, I think it's yet another mishandling of the RDNA2 series. The new AMD Radeon™ RX 6650 XT graphic cards are optimized for DirectStorage to help reduce load times in games and bring expansive worlds to life in amazing detail. The Radeon™ RX 6000 Series graphic cards take full advantage of the latest innovations in upscaling technologies such as AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 2 or the new Radeon™ Super Resolution 1. Whether it is AAA gaming or eSports, experience all your games without compromise. Starting with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, we see a 6% performance jump from the 6600 XT to the 6650 XT, about what we were expecting to see. This allowed the 6650 XT to match the RTX 3060, not exactly an exciting increase and if it were free we'd take it.UPDATE: Few weeks later I got on and it wouldn’t let me open the AMD software because the driver didn’t match the software. Don’t panic your GPU is fine. The problem is, for whatever reason, Windows decided to “Update” your driver for you and installed an older driver.
