Regrowth – CV5. A d6 wound heal to one of your units, with an 18” range. Most Sylvaneth builds run lots of Kurnoth Hunters or Treelords, both of which are good recipients for a big heal. Being a d6 does make it very swingy. B A little beefier in cost at 40 pts but still has some really good effects. Dreadwood probably will get a lot of mileage from it due to wanting as many bravery effects it can get. If you have the opportunity to take this it can be valuable, as Sylvaneth has a really solid lore. Combines well with Spiritsong Stave to get an extra cast in as well.

When a unit from this battalion runs, you may run 6″ instead of rolling for it. Not a bad one. It’s not great since it doesnt let you run and charge but it can help get the hunters into prime position for sniping with bows, charging next turn, or just getting them somewhere safe behind cover. Lords of the Clan Throne of Vines – CV9. Once a classic, this now heals the caster for one wound at the end of each phase. A decent little effect, but for a faction without any inherent static bonus to casting, and wizards with a low number of casts, this CV is brutal. C Flexible –You have access to solid frontline, ranged and wizards, allowing you to adapt to many opponents. As the battle progresses, the song turns from Discordant to Mellifluous , granting a range of boons to the whole army while they are in close pursuit of their prey. If you don’t have many other ways to generate a Wyldwood, this is a surefire way, it’s good to have at least one other ready to go if you can due to the tactical flexibility it grants. BAll 3 wizard relics are definitely interesting. The Acorn of Ages lets you set up 1 free Awakened Wyldwood once per game. I can’t see taking this as you have other ways to spawn one, but it could be powerful if you are short on ways to do it, or are facing an army that will aggressively counter-spell you. Luneth’s Lamp I want to like but is far too niche, as it grants you the ability to Banish an invocation, gaining a +2 on the roll. You’ll be glad you have it when you do but as only 3 armies have invocations, its just not worth it. Finally the Vesperal Gem is going to be a popular take, as once per game you can get an autocast that cannot be unbound. Powerful in the clutch moments you need to get, say Treesong off. What a refreshing set of results! A few genuine surprises and a lot of shake ups at the top were almost assured considering how much has changed, but it remains to be seen whether this is a flash in the pan or a sign of things to come. See you next week! They defend nature and their sylvan habitats, most wary of any intruders, others more accepting of potential allies.

Although the bows seem the best at first glance, I think in wider army you will be more likely to choose the melee options. The Sylvaneth army has lots of ways to teleport your models for a first or second turn charge. There are also ways to make your army "one deployment drop", I.e there are some loose battalions that can be made up by any combination of Sylvaneth units. This allows you to play for the double turn, or take the first turn and alpha strike threats. Where they really will come in to their own is as a screen. After performing Unleash Hell they can immediately retreat on a 2+. With their 12″ movement this grants a lot of flexibility. They’ll be basically impossible to charge reliably for many opponents, who will be left holding the bag as their troops sit in the middle of the field with nothing to hit, and you follow up with your own charge next turn. 215 isnt a bad price for them either, their role is just exceedingly specific and niche. The Spirit of DurthuGorgeous models –Many of your models are newer, created for End Times and Age of Sigmar, as such they are some of the better looking models in the line with lots of options for paint schemes. Is it a bad thing that we’re praising the models in Faction Strengths? Well… Alarielle the Everqueen, the goddess of life, leads legions of fierce, fleet forest phantoms to war. Though these spirits are empowered by life magic, they’re far from the peace-loving fairy folk of children’s tales. Their roots drank deep of the blood-tainted waters of endless war, and they have been bent towards vengeance, their branches twisting into tearing claws. Throne of Vines – Casting value 5. Add 2 to casting rolls for the caster until they are moved. Excellent spell, almost mandatory to take on a Branchwraith, since you want them for their Unique spell. Cast this on the Branchwraith, then sit comfortably all game spitting out new Dryads. Awesome. A- It’s a fantastic little twist that this list did well, but when you note that Jeremy is the one piloting it things start to make sense as he’s a well respected player within the US competitive community. As for the list itself, Purple Sun is a nice little wrinkle that helps improve *his entire army’s* shooting phase thanks to the armour debuff, which can represent a significant damage increase when you consider most stuff in the list is rend 1 at best.

to hit for all enemy units within 13″. The scaling with damage Peal of Doom range is gone, replaced with a flat number so this is at least more predictable. A key wording choice here is that it can’t overlap with another Screaming Bell, if you were to run 2. Vengeance and Spite asks you to kill the enemy general with a unit with the Outcasts keyword, which is an odd choice. This basically boils it down to Drycha or Spite-Revenants. Possible, unless your opponent’s warlord is say a Great Unclean One, then it becomes much more difficult. Two squads of 10 are often used to help fill battleline, with the third being another Dryad squad or some Tree-Revenants. If you can get squads of 20 or 30 going, it’s worth considering as their saves improve to a 4+ with 20 or more models. Just be prepared to work around their a morale, as a less than stellar 6 they can flake fast if caught out in the open. Tree Revenants Big Trees – Treelords are great all-rounder behemoths that provide chip shooting, solid melee and control. A march of the ents style army is totally viable in competition. One of the few deities worshipped by the sylvaneth alongside Alarielle, Kurnoth represents nature’s wildness and hunger. The Kurnoth Hunters are living embodiments of his wrath. Nearly twice the size of a Dryad, masters of sword, bow and scythe, they are strong enough to tear a Chaos warrior in two and tough enough to shrug off the hardest blows. Agile, graceful and stoic, they display little of the whimsy of some of their kin - they display absolute purpose, calm as ancient oaks, deeply focussed on their battles. [1]

Slaves to Darkness Victory – Major Win (28-12) Slaves to Darkness – Max Soule – First Place Credit: Silks An interesting bit of design: after the gladewyrm moves enemy units within an inch take d3 mortal wounds on a 3+ and Sylvaneth units within 6” heal d3 wounds on a 3+. Downsides are that it’s slow, has a poor cast range and just competes with far better spells. Spiteswarm Hive The Carnelian Greatspite accompanies him on his raids, a creature of pure Ghyranite magic, sprouting fresh life wherever it treads. During the hero phase, on a 3+ its Nature Aetheric can apply a Mysterious Terrain effect of your choosing to a terrain feature within 6”. This infusion of life magic also turns it into overgrown terrain. For an army with so much magical focus, this is a surprisingly weak spell lore, but there are some gems.
