WOW!! JUST WOW!! I absolutely loved this book so much!!! "Will They or Won't They" is my first read by Ava Wilder and it will not be my last! When I say that I was completely immersed in this story I mean full on obsession and I could not stop reading. My daughter even caught me reading on my kindle during my son's graduation ceremony 😬🤣! Yes, it is that good!! It has your enemies to lovers, second chance celebrity romance filled with angst, tension, jealously and sizzling chemistry. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ I hurt for both Ethan and Grey at what this was doing to them and their relationship but loved how Wilder continues their story for a fantastic happily-ever-after. this was a very unexpected 5 star, i’m not a big fan of second chance romances but i absolutely ATE THIS UP.

There were valid reasons for the break up in the first place and it took the characters a lot of growth and change and TIME, for them to try a relationship again. There was no rushing through, no brushing off of their experience in between (they were apart for 9 years). Grey Brooks is on a mission to keep her career afloat now that the end of her long-running teen TV show has her (unsuccessfully) pounding the pavement again. With a life-changing role on the line, she’s finally desperate enough to agree to her publicist’s scheme: fake a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob who needs the publicity, but for very different reasons. A raw, character-driven, and heart-touching read . . . I absolutely loved it.”—Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author of The Spanish Love Deception Ethan is still reeling from the death of his best friend five years ago. He’s become ultra-private and drinks too much. He agrees to the fake relationship for very different reasons. It’s easy for him to keep Grey at a distance. Until it isn’t. I've said it before, and I will say it again - It's all about the journey! What a journey it is! It's not always an easy one as the characters have their own issues (one more than the other) to work on.Over the course of the filming of season one, they could not get out of each other’s pants. However, due to a Mysterious Fight, they stopped speaking and basically made the cast and crew’s lives hell for five more seasons. I absolutely loved Ava Wilder’s debut novel, How to Fake it in Hollywood. It was just over-the-top and dramatic enough to make it a delicious celebrity romance, but not so crazy that it made me believe I was reading a book about aliens, if you know what I mean. The romance the characters shared had wisps of a first love, though it wasn't anyone's first rodeo. For some reason, their relationship, despite the circumstances, felt like home, like a summer evening, a stormy afternoon or a night out at the beach with waves clashing peacefully. It felt comfortable. Their chemistry, the tension, the angst and later the adoration came easily. Although the second half was more challenging to read and showed how messy and ugly life can be, I feel it added depth to their story. I love that this book offered more than just a simple fake dating; then they just live HEA. he forgot his plans that he had arranged with his kids because he was drunk, but we didn’t get to see him fix his relationship with his kids, which I would’ve really liked to have seen.

At first I thought this was going to be a miscommunication trope (and there is some of that), but no. It’s a he falls first and harder trope. And ya girl was here for it! This novel claims to be a second chance romance with 10 years of history between Shane and Lilah. They are starring in the same show again after not working together in years and having a huge romantic falling out. They cannot stand to even be in the same room and are supposed to resume playing the main love interests in a TV drama. No one knows that they used to have a private “relationship” and they are desperate to keep it that way, despite it being painfully obvious that something dramatic happened between them. There was a real art to the way Wilder structured this story. Never once was I bored or frustrated by the pacing; her ability to write engaging dialogue between two characters that were very flawed and angry beyond skillful. I can't say enough good things about the fun I had getting to see Lilah and Shane fell in love again. Though I gave it my best effort, there's no way I did this book justice with this review. There wasn't a false note to be found. If you've ever shipped two actors because the sparks flying between them could be felt through the screen (don't lie, we've all done it), you'll want to read this one!

I thought this might just be a lighthearted romance but there was a lot of depth, and I enjoyed this one! I’m excited to find a new debut author and I’ll be watching to see what she writes next.

One thing I have to emphasize: this book is not bad or average reading but after seeing the cover and reading that intriguing blurb, I was expecting something a little lighter! And romance part of the book heartbreakingly disappointed. There was not enough chemistry between characters. I sat down with this novel and devoured it in two days because I just couldn’t put it down. This story totally wrapped me up and I needed to see what was in store for these two characters. Leave it to their joint publicist to propose a fake relationship to boost both of their cred in the public’s and Hollywood’s eyes.

Overall, I enjoyed this enemies to lovers Hollywood romance. The banter was hilarious, the characters were flawed, the romance was full of angst, and I ended up highlighting half of the book! So many great quotes. This empathetic, sexy, utterly radiant book has my whole heart. With their red-hot chemistry, Grey and Ethan are easy to root for, both as a couple and as two creatives navigating rough patches in their careers.
