Blitz also becomes a pretty fast-paced game once all the players get to know the straightforward rules, so it’s ideal if you don’t have much time. The game is played in several rounds, but it’s up to you to decide how many. Overall, the creators of this game have deemed Dutch Blitz “A Vonderful Goot Game” and I could not agree more. It’s smart, simple, incredibly addicting, and is sure to bring out a competitive side in even your most reserved friends. It’s a small, portable game that could surely take over a Saturday evening, and you won’t be mad that it does.

It saves time and allows you to steal some spots away from other players with the same card. Mentally Sort By Color And Range Of Number All the remaining cards will form a so-called wood pile. Place it face down somewhere on the side where it’s distinguishable from the other cards on the table. Inside: The best fast card games both competitive kids and adults will love. Tried and tested by our family of two teens, one tween and one little bean. Why We Love It: Finding a game for older kids that’s not too easy and not too hard can be difficult. Dutch Blitz is, in this regard, perfectly balanced and great fun. What You’ll Need to Play Dutch Blitz Looking to play Blitz? You’ll find all you need to know in these Blitz card game rules, including details on dealing, scoring, and even some alternatives. Together, the players will then sort out the Dutch Pile cards that were gathered by the scorekeeper, and return them to the proper player by design - pump, plow, pail and carriage. Each player will count his cards that were played onto the Dutch Piles and give this figure to the scorekeeper. In Blitz, you aim to achieve 31 points (or the closest you can get to this number) by collecting cards of the same suit. For this purpose, all cards have their value which goes as follows: Continue reading and learn how to play Dutch Blitz following my simple instructions. What is Dutch Blitz?

The Dutch piles are started with Ones and grow up to Tens, and each can only contain cards of a matching color. So, how is it played? First, don’t mistake Dutch Blitz for Blitz: Despite the similar name, these card games are very different (see our Blitz card game rules for more details). The red and blue cards carry a Pennsylvania Dutch Boy illustration. The yellow and green cards carry a Pennsylvania Dutch girl illustration. Each player builds three basic groups of cards in front of him from which he will play the game. But before I explain the gameplay itself, let’s start with the game’s initial setup. Starting the Game Ligretto was first released in 1988 by German company Rosengarten Spiele. It may have been inspired by Rasender Teufel, invented 1927 in Leipzig, which had an almost identical set of rules and play style. [3] It is also inspired by Dutch Blitz, [2] which was invented to teach children about colors and numbers easily. The "dutch piles" in the top of the picture is what everyone plays on out in the field. I'll explain more about this in the next step, but just know that this is not part of your initial setup. All you need to do is get your wood pile, 3 cards, and blitz pile.
