Okay, this is a bit subjective– so we’ll break it down according to preference. Modern and Stylish Look: Closca Fuga Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus features the return of this feature, this time transforming during gameplay rather than cutscenes. This is most visible in the opening level, where the helmet appears and disappears when Ratchet exits / enters the vacuum of space.

The helmet’s overall quite average. Average price, average weight, average ventilation, average portability, average ease of folding. You get the picture. It’s an average helmet. The helmet often seems to activate without any apparent interaction or input from the wearer; it just extends or collapses with minimal fuss whenever the situation demands. Very handy for a Dramatic Unmask. Why might you want the Plixi as opposed to another folding helmet? Well, there’s no strong reason to go one way over another. Maybe you like the style? For whatever reason, this helmet may just be the one that works for you. It’s certainly a decent option. As a bike commuter you know that once you get to work or school you need to store your bicycle and gear somewhere.

Examples:

Note that we do not recommend the accordion-style folding helmets due to safety concerns, as the person who originally came up with the design for these helmets himself has said that he does not believe they are safe (see comments here), although they claim to be both EN-1078 and CPSC. In Spider-Man 3, New Goblin has a facemask that seems to disappear completely in his costume when opened. Not that he wears it that often. In the Stargate movie, the iconic, intricate Egyptian Mythology-inspired helmet/masks of the alien Horus Guards, Anubis, and Ra fold into themselves in an impressive display of digital effects.

The player character of ECHO wears a spacesuit which includes a helmet that swiftly vanishes or reappears depending on the atmospheric conditions, without her so much as pressing a button.

Thor: Love and Thunder: Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor has an Asgardian helmet that comes and goes as part of her costume. In this case, though, it isn't through technology but thank to Mjölnir's magic. Downplayed to a lesser extent in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, where Ratchet's Commando helmet has a retractable oxygen mask that extends in certain locations ingame where breathable air isn't abundant, such as in the vaccum of space, underwater, and at high altitudes. Similar to the Mass Effect example, it's more through story as there's no bespoke animation for this. Also, I was disappointed to see that the Closca had no padded strap on the chin, which other, cheaper helmets provide. The Closca does, however, have slightly larger pieces where the straps join under your ears, which would definitely help to keep the straps flush to your face and avoid twisting and tangling, which gets very annoying and frustrating on some helmets. The FEND is another new folding helmet which is also affordable. It folds easily, stays shut when folded, and is easy to carry by hand– making it quite portable. It also looks pretty good. The main downside is that it doesn’t fold so compact compared to other folding helmets.

The helmet weighs 400g, around the middle of the field for foldable helmets and has plenty of ventilation, something that doesn’t tend to be seen on some other helmets at this price point. It is more expensive than the LID by some margin, but is similar in price to the other helmets listed. The reason is that helmets are made of a foam material that absorbs impact.Helmets are not created to undergo multiple impacts. Once you’ve crashed in a helmet (even if it’s foldable) you need to get a new one. How can I wash my foldable helmet? The LID, like the Closca, has CPSC and EN1078 certification, and also boasts an inbuilt LED light on the rear, which is something that neither of the other two have to offer. They claim a head-turning design, which I suppose could be correct, but maybe not for the reason that they hope. On the downside, the helmet has no front facing vents whatsoever, so despite its lightweight design, it may be uncomfortable, especially over longer commutes and on hotter days when some airflow would definitely be appreciated. It’s a one-size-fits-all set up (from 49cm to 58.5cm head sizes) using multi-fit technology. The weight is on the heavier side plus the ventilation and closure method may take some getting used to. Helmets are made to undergo a single crash and not multiple ones. A company will not stand behind one of their products that has already been crashed in.

A memorable case goes to the Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger/ Power Rangers Ninja Storm helmets, which only does it halfway to only show the faces as opposed to completely collapse.Finding the best folding bike helmet for your needs can be quite a task. The market is incredibly large and filled with products that seemingly offer the same safety but at different price points. Undoubtedly the biggest benefit of a folding helmet is convenience. Having a helmet is great for protecting your head, but it can be a burden to carry around the rest of the day. With a collapsible helmet, you can significantly reduce it’s size so that it can easily slide into a bag. When it comes to vents, this is one of the most open bike helmets out there. Thanks to its design, your head will get ample cooling. Unfortunately, you won't fare well when it's raining outside, but who likes riding a bike in the rain anyway. Introducing, Heemetle Foldable Cycling Helmet - a lightweight bike helm that's easy to carry and provides you with the necessary protection while on your cycling adventures.
