We know how frustrating it is to choose between a streamlined, fast racing shoe and a comfortable, supportive one for everyday running. We are happy to say that after testing, you can get all of that—and more—with Brooks’ Launch 9.

Jacob: The upper is a sleek, distraction-free, single-piece engineered knit that is largely unstructured. For stability, the rear of the shoe has a rigid heel counter and the Brooks logo overlay provides midfoot support. The upper material is slightly stretchy and accommodating. The toe box is open and very comfortable. The materials are all soft and the upper gets out of the way when on foot—it is not noticed and works well. The fit for my medium-width foot is on the looser side with a bit of play in the heel and certainly space for my forefoot to slide around, but neither is problematic when on the run. The upper is adequately breathable and overall is well-done.The shoe’s ample cushioning provides a soft underfoot but with lots of energy return for a responsive ride. We noticed that the plush feel of the shoe also helped in not further aggravating any pre-existing knee injuries. Typical mild pain and discomfort were minimized and soothed and our knees felt completely supported.

Unlike some other stability shoes, the Adrenaline GTS is soft and flexible, meaning our feet bend comfortably inside of them when in motion. They offer a smooth ride and easy transitions. These running shoes felt so lightweight, that we actually felt as if our speed on our daily runs was increased in addition to knee pain being relieved. Our ankles and joints responded well when in motion in these running shoes. The Brooks Revel 5 is a springy trainer, but its energize level is 1/3 in Brooks Energize Level Scale. For the best energy return we would recommend Brooks Levitate. Here is our article that compares Brooks Revel vs Levitate in many aspects. Brooks Revel vs Adrenaline GTSROBBE: The Brooks Revel 5 may not blow your mind, but it’ll be a good companion, especially if you’re someone who wants a do-everything shoe. For travelers, those who run a few miles a few times a week, and parents of high school athletes looking for simple and reliable shoe – this is a great choice to get you where you need to be.

Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. The Adrenaline GTS 23 offers a moderate amount of support and a soft, well-cushioned midsole, which makes it a great choice for easy runs and long distance efforts. Cushioned with DNA Loft v2 foam in the midsole, the Adrenaline serves up a highly cushioned heel and firm forefoot. The midsole is designed to absorb impact when your feet strike the ground, which we noticed immediately. Living with different health conditions (such as plantar fasciitis), we’re used to pain when we’re running. While we can’t say the shoe alleviated any pre-existing pain, we can speak to the fact that we didn’t feel any more pain, nor was it exacerbated during or after physical activity when wearing these shoes. Function: Are you a trail runner, or do you plan on logging miles on the road? Look for running shoes that are specifically designed for your intended use.DNA Flash, like DNA Loft v3, is nitrogen-infused EVA foam, but it’s optimized for low weight and high energy return. It also offers some softness to absorb impacts. It’s Brooks’ lightest cushioning material, giving shoes like the Hyperion Tempo their propulsive, energetic ride. It’s the foam you want under your feet if you’re focused on speed training or racing. If you have flat feet and need a running shoe with excellent support, Brooks’ Addiction GTS 15 has got you covered. We found that this shoe strikes the perfect balance between support and cushioning, making it a comfortable option for short or long runs.

Michael: I’ve skipped generations here, moving from the Revel 3 to 5, and I was immensely pleased with the product in the box; like the Revel 3, the 5 is a handsome trainer with clearly solid construction. The upper is a knit material that doesn’t feel cheap or plasticy, and the outsole, while unassuming, is built to last. A terrific first impression. Gilly says: For my foot, it is a bit baggy around the arch area, but I do have a narrow shallow foot. For over 10 miles a little firm for me, but not uncomfortable, I just prefer something a bit softer over higher millage.

Hi I’m Gilly,

The real comfort comes from the upper though. Super flexible, very breathable. The laces are nice and stretchy over the top of your foot avoiding any lace bit. I found myself running around town in it after a workout, no need to hastily get out of them after a run. As Jacob highlights, and as I think our entire RTR team is excited to see, the biodegradability of the midsole is vastly improved over previous technologies. Especially as a shoe-tester who goes through dozens of pairs per year, lessening the environmental impact of a pair of daily trainers is a great step forward.
